MILL HALL – The Central Mountain High School Cheerleaders had a busy spring and summer.
Cheerleaders Cassidi Greendoner, Leeah Eisenhower and Erika Dion represented Central Mountain High School at the Big 33 Football Classic on May 30 at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg.
From May 20th to 22nd and May 27th to 29th, the ladies took part in training to prepare for the match on May 30th. They participated in the recognition night for players and cheerleaders (children with disabilities) and the Big 33. they were given a group photo and a certificate.
The cheerleaders had the honor of unfurling the US Flag before the game and were shown at halftime in a routine with 66 other cheerleaders, 33 representing Maryland and 33 representing Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania beat Maryland 28 to 7.
The Big 33 Football Classic was founded in 1957 and is still considered one of the most beautiful All-Star football games in the United States. Today, the Big 33 Classic features Pennsylvania’s top players going head-to-head with 33 of Maryland’s best players. The Big 33 Classic has long been known as the “Super Bowl of High School Football.”
The Central Mountain Cheerleaders attended the UCA Pine Forest Cheer Camp from June 11th to June 14th in Greely, Pa. Cheer camp is an overnight camp for cheerleaders looking to expand their cheerleading knowledge, improve their skills, and build closer team bonds. At Cheer Camp, teams practice specific routines, team looks, and turns. Cheer Camps focus on individual skills.
On the last day, family and friends were able to watch the teams perform different routines. The CM varsity team placed third in singing and first place overall on game day and junior third place in dance and received the senior award.
Central Mountain also selected four young ladies as UCA All American Cheerleaders. Seniors Erica Dion, Cassidi Greendoner, Leeah Eisenhower and junior Paisley Beatty. These girls were chosen based on their enthusiasm, sharp movement, dancing, cheerfulness, facial expression and appropriate jumping skills.
These ladies will have the opportunity to attend one of four special events: the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade, the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour, The VRBO Citrus Bowl Pre-Game or the London New Year’s Day Parade.
Dion was selected for the Pin it Forward Award, where a staff member chooses a cheerleader who demonstrates great leadership skills, is encouraging, and helps make others’ camp experiences special.
Eisenhower was chosen to be a professor at UCA. If selected, he will have the opportunity to travel across the country to teach camps and training sessions.
Coaches Dee Gentzyel, Kristi Dion and Haley Eisenhower cheered on the cheerleaders.
The Central Mountain Cheerleaders look forward to “Friday Night Lights” this season cheering on the Central Mountain Wildcats.
