There’s a new Philadelphia Eagles cheerleading squad.
The final auditions to join the team were held at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on April 19. 60 women auditioned, but only 36 made the cut.
The auditions, which were streamed live on the Eagles website, were divided into three sections: fitness, dance, and stage presence.
The women wore swimsuits and tennis shoes for the first part, striking poses as they strutted across the stage. For the second, they came out in small groups to perform a choreography of about a minute. For the third, the women wore dresses and heels as they introduced themselves by sharing their name, their occupation, and a “fun” fact about themselves.
Those who auditioned had a variety of backgrounds, including several recent graduates and graduate students, an attorney, and a nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Not everyone who tried out was a rookie—the entire team had to re-audition for their spot.
“This is my fifth trial season, but I always tell everyone that nerves never go away,” said Victoria Caruso, one of the team’s captains.

Eagles cheerleaders do more than cheer on the team on the sidelines. They act as brand ambassadors and make hundreds of appearances in the community each year. But that’s only part of the concert’s appeal: There’s always the advantage of being on a Super Bowl team.
“Words cannot describe what it feels like to be an NFL cheerleader let alone be a part of the Philadelphia Eagles organization,” Caruso said. “Being a part of the Super Bowl 52 victory in Minneapolis was incredible.”
