Official: Muma signs rookie contract

JACKSONVILLE — It’s official: The No. 70 overall pick has been signed.

Chad Muma, the No. 70 overall pick of the Jaguars in the 2022 NFL Draft, has signed his rookie contract. The team announced the signing Wednesday afternoon during team activities at TIAA Bank Field in Week 1 of ’22.

Muma (6-foot-3, 242 pounds), a linebacker from the University of Wyoming, had 267 career tackles — 147 solo — collegiately. He was a third-team Associated Press All-America selection last season.

He recorded 19 losses in his career, including eight in the last two seasons. He also had three interceptions last season, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He was a Butkus Award finalist as a senior and All-Mountain West selection in 2020 and 2021.

Previously, the Jaguars had signed five of their seven picks in the 2022 draft: wide receiver Travon Walker (1st round, No. 1 overall, Georgia), linebacker Devin Lloyd (1st round, No. 27 overall, Utah), running back Snoop Conner (5th round , No. 154 overall, Mississippi), cornerback Greg Junior (6th round, No. 197 overall, Ouachita Baptist) and cornerback Montaric Brown (7th round, No. 222, Arkansas).

One Jaguars ’22 pick remains unsigned: offensive lineman Luke Fortner (3rd round, No. 65 overall, Kentucky).
