Warner Bros. Discovery Name's Nordic Management Structure; Three more exciting ones in restructuring

Warner Bros. Discovery has established another of its European management teams as Scandinavian boss Christina Sulebakk outlines the structure of her unit.

The likes of Pil Gundelach Brandstrup, Magnus Vatn, Axel Eriksson, and Katja Santala have taken key roles in the national content in Shakes, while Rebecca Rørmark, Sanny Ekstrand, and Johan Mannerhill are the most common accidents. Last month, Deadline revealed that Nordics’ original boss Christian Wikander was one of WBD’s 29 departing European production teams as part of the transition to the territorial model.

The WBD Nordics business includes several Discovery line channels as well as HBO Max, which was launched last year but will be replaced by a service that also includes Discovery + in 2024. The company also has extensive local manufacturing operations.

Of those who left, WBD said Rørmark “decided to explore new opportunities,” but will lead Discovery channel portfolio marketing, commercial marketing for HBO Max, and “transition” advertising, while Ekstrand’s senior vice president of operations is leaving after four years, having spent the last two in “an important role in building Scandinavian strategy and operations.” Mannerhill, Nordics’ CEO of Home Entertainment & amp; Games leaves after a decade in the Nordic arm of Warner Bros. It is understood that WBD employs a deputy for Rørmark.

Pil Gundelach Brandstrup – overseeing content and planning in the Scandinavian countries, as well as continuing content management in Denmark.

Magnus Vatn (Norway), Axel Eriksson (Sweden) and Katja Santala (Finland) – remain national content leaders.

Lina Friman – Remains responsible for planning, reporting to Gundelach Brandstrup.

A finance, operations, research and insight manager will be appointed soon, and at a later stage, heads of law, culture and corporate communications will be announced.

Governance structures in the UK and Ireland, Germany, CEE / MENAT, and Spain, Italy and Portugal have already been established as David Zaslav’s international bosses are redirecting local activities following the Warner Bros. merger. and Discovery earlier this year. Only Pierre Branco’s branch in France, Benelux and Africa has yet to disclose its local structure.

Sulebakk, who was appointed Nordics General Manager in June, previously served as CEO of HBO Max EMEA, said: “Nordics is a highly developed media market, and Warner Bros. Discovery is one of the leading media companies in the region, reaching millions of people every day with high-quality content and products. Over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many talented people, and I am confident that WBD will become an even stronger corporation in the years to come. The potential is extremely exciting and today I am delighted to announce a leadership team that will support me in ensuring the continued growth of WBD in the Nordic countries. ”
