Come stunt, jump and cheer with the University of Kentucky Cheerleaders! We will teach a cheer, dance, stunts and jumps during our time together. You don’t need to have any cheering experience to participate! We also offer the possibility of playing the next day in the women’s basketball game at the Memorial Coliseum. It is not mandatory, but encouraged for everyone who attends the clinic.
We are delighted to have your son or daughter with us on Saturday, February 26 at the Seaton Center on Campus. We will begin check-in at Seaton Center outside room 130 at 8:45am. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please enter through the blue double doors of the university.
Please send your child with the following: a labeled water bottle and snack (no peanuts), comfortable clothes and shoes, and a mask! We will learn a cheer, dance, stunts and jumps during this clinic. We look forward to seeing you!
On Sunday, February 27, camp participants will perform during the first quarter of the women’s basketball game at Memorial Coliseum. The game starts at 4:00 p.m. and all high-performance athletes must check in by 3:30 p.m. to participate wearing their camp jersey. The University of Kentucky Cheerleaders will also be performing a halftime routine during the women’s game, so stick around! D1 athletes are more competitive and generally have a better chance of receiving scholarships and becoming professionals in their sport. That being said, D2 athletes have more time to focus on their studies and pursue other interests. It’s all about which league best suits your interests and skills.
Is cheer a sport?
Since the definition of a sport is a physical activity performed competitively, cheerleading would most definitely fall under the category of sports. Although cheerleading was not always the sport it is today, it has evolved into a highly competitive sport combining gymnastics, dancing and stunts.
Is joy or dancing a sport? Cheerleaders are athletes and train like any other athlete. Cheerleading should be considered a sport because it involves physical labor, competition between other teams, and is governed by rules. Everything applying to “normal” sports, everything is the same. To encourage management, there is competition and school.
Is d1 better than D2 cheer?
A program that operates from a single establishment and a single establishment. A program with 125 or fewer competitive cheer athletes will qualify as Division II. What are the cheering competition levels? There will be four possible levels:
- Level 1.1 â Stunting at level 1, tumbling at level 1.
- Level 2.1 â Stunting at level 2, tumbling at level 1.
- Level 3.1 – Stunting at level 3, tumbling at level 1.
- Level 3.2 â Stunting at level 3, tumbling at level 2.
