The Shreveport Times Week 2 Non-Football Athlete Ballot Includes 10 Athletes

Voting is now open online for the Shreveport Times High School Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Raising Cane’s and the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. It includes student-athletes in northwest Louisiana high school sports, other than football, from 10 northwest Louisiana schools.

Fans of these students, their schools or a particular sport can vote for their favorite on in the “sports” section. Voting will continue until Thursday evening and the winner will be announced on Friday. Parkway runner Cheyenne Olson won the first week.

The weekly winners will receive a backpack, boxed lunch and some additional merchandise donated by Raising Cane, along with a short story about their accomplishments by The Times.

On the ballot for Week 2 for the 2022-23 school year are Claire Allen, Benton cross country; Lee Ballard, Caddo Magnet cross country; Morgan Young, Byrd volleyball; Landrie Michael, Shreve volleyball captain; Peyshance Peek, North Caddo volleyball; Abby Reese, Lots of Volleyball; Abigail Jackson, Parkway Swimming; Zachary Ponder, Calvary Swimming; Sarah Genovese, Loyola cheerleading and Amiyah Chatman, Homer cheerleading.

These athletes were selected because of their performance the previous week or because their names were submitted by their coach.

High School Athlete of the Week includes athletes from all LHSAA-sanctioned sports except football. In the fall, this includes volleyball, cross-country skiing, swimming and cheerleading.
