Cheerleaders from Albia and Centerville teamed up to raise $800 for the Childhood Cancer Connection during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The nonprofit organization provides educational resources, support outings, camp programs, events and other efforts to more than 700 Iowa families at little or no cost. Lennox Craig, an Albia elementary school student battling cancer, is a poster boy for the organization. She was supposed to be at Friday’s football game to help present the check, but she was sick. Money was raised by selling Gold Out T-shirts and Albia teachers holding a $5 Jeans Day.
