Back by popular demand But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical, which won over audiences with its charm and heartwarming story during its first performance in February, returns to the Turbine Theater from October 7th to November 27th.
Casting has yet to be announced, but expect catchy songs, lots of cheers and undeniable fun.
But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical is the story of Megan, an All-American high school cheerleader with the perfect life. That is, until she finds out her friends and family suspect her of being a lesbian and sends her packing to a True Directions rehab camp to straighten her out. It is at this camp that, under the strict guidance of headmistress Mary Brown, Megan meets a sexy boy named Graham, who shows her exactly what her “true direction” is. Funny, irreverent and full of heart, But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical is a quirky coming-of-age comedy about sexual awakening and self-realization.
Turbine Theater Artistic Director Paul Taylor-Mills said: “Today is a big day for The Turbine Theatre. As we prepare for the West End transfer of My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do) to the Garrick Theatre, we’re keeping our foot on the gas at our Battersea base , to ensure we remain an important voice in the development of new work.Great Britain.
“Today we present the return of ‘But I’m a Cheerleader: The Musical’ at the Turbine Theatre. We had an incredible sell-out season earlier this year and learned a huge amount about the show we’re creating and indeed its audience. We’re committed to creating the best version of the show possible and we are thrilled to be able to present it again this fall.
But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical has a book and lyrics by Bill Augustin, music by Andrew Abrams and direction by Tania Azevedo.
