Betty J. Mock passed away on September 4, 2022 with her beloved husband by her side. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 19, 1942, one of four children born to the late Ray Hurshel Adams and Gussie Mae Bell Miller. The family moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area after World War II. Betty married Leroy “Pete” Mock on July 28, 1985; they celebrated 37 years of marriage less than two months ago. In her early years, she attended Jefferson Elementary School followed by high school where she worked in her mother’s restaurant and helped manage student services at Phoenix Indian School. He frequently travels with his mother to the Hopi and Navajo Reservations to transport students to and from Indian Schools. Betty Jane attended Washington High School. During her high school years she was a cheerleader for the WHS Rams and worked for the high school newspaper. Betty Jane began her undergraduate college studies in 1960 as a major in Journalism, cheerleading, and worked at the State Press graduating in 1964. After marrying in 1961, she moved through a number of jobs as she moved to different locations in the lumber business, including Denver, Salt Lake City, and other Southwest areas. Betty Jane divorced from her first marriage in 1983 and moved to the West Phoenix area with David. Subsequently, he became an Administrative Assistant for the Tempe City Vehicle Maintenance Service. After 13 years, he left Tempe and moved with Pete to Grapevine, TX. While in Texas, he began working from home as a Legal Assistant for a group of attorneys conducting Mediation Training. As she moved with Pete to the Atlanta Georgia area and changed jobs, Betty Jane continued to work from home, now as a dedicated Legal Assistant to an individual attorney. Continuing as a Legal Assistant, he worked from home in Las Vegas, until he completed 20 years, retiring after 20 years years as Administrative Assistant. Betty is survived by her husband Pete, three sons Patrick (Susan), Christopher Bear” (Jana) & Michael, Kierstin’s five grandchildren, Noah, Tyler, Aubrey Anna & Austin, two great-grandchildren and brother of Bobbie Adams. In addition to his parents, his death was preceded by a son David Smith, brother Jack Adams and sister Barbara West. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 12-1pm at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Funeral services will start at 1pm. Betty will be buried with her son, David, at Resthaven Park Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life starting at 14:30.
