Adam Warner has loved “One Drunk” since he first heard it.
“I fell in love with that little guitar in the front,” the country music singer says of the song Taste of Country, written by John Caldwell, Mark Addison Chandler and Davis Corley.
“It felt like ’90s country. I love that kind of thing. But at the same time it had that super cool, super cool feel to it,” he added.
The killer-voiced US Marine started playing “One Drunk” during his live shows, and was thrilled to learn that his fans loved it too.
“Whenever that song came out, it always got a great response,” he says of the Southern rock song with a honky-tonk vibe. “He always got people dancing. If we played in a bar, he always got people out of their seats and onto the dance floor.’
That’s the feeling the Illinois native wanted to capture when he and his band started brainstorming ideas for the music video. You’ll be premiering the latest version exclusively on Taste of Country this week, but don’t expect to see Warner dancing to it.
“I have two left feet,” he admits with a laugh. “I know exactly where I am, and it’s not on the dance floor. I told my manager we had to find someone who could actually dance in the video, because that’s not in my wheelhouse.”
Luckily, Warner and his team found a lot of people who wanted to be involved in the music video, including some former Tennessee Titans cheerleaders like Kentucky native Brooke Bailey Abner (a former Titans cheerleader).
“Brooke (Bailey Abner) was the main choreographer,” explains Warner. “He did the dance himself. I left all the dancing up to him and his team. They knocked it out of the park. They definitely did some dance moves I couldn’t do in my life!”
Video for “One Drunk” Spillway Bar & Grills and other attendees in Bowling Green, Ky. include a number of true Warner fans, who responded to the singer’s request through his various social media channels just hours before the shoot.
“A lot of fans showed up, but at first they were a little hesitant about being in the video … they just wanted to see the show,” he says. “But then, you know, a few beers later, they loosened up a little bit and everyone joined in. We had a great time.”
Warner couldn’t quite convince him to be in the video? His wife, Megan.
“I think there’s a half-second clip of him and his sister in there somewhere,” he laughs. “They did a quick little cameo.”
Adam Warner’s new album What We’re Known For is out on December 16th.
