It turns out that L.A. The Rams aren’t the first NFL team to have a male cheerleader. This may interest you : Rams Cheerleaders & Nike VP of Global Diversity and Inclusion roundtable discussion…’because the Atlanta Falcons had friends dancing in the squad 30 YEARS AGO.
ICYMI – reports earlier this week claimed the Rams made history when they announced Quinton Peron and Napolean Jinnies would be joining the squad as the NFL’s first male cheerleaders.
But in 1987, the Falcons had a combined squad of 12 women and 12 men … and we were told they weren’t alone. Billy Quercia — a member of the ’87 Falcons cheers team — told us K.C. The Chiefs also had a combined army around the same time.
Quercia says they are real cheerleaders — not just stuntmen — and are included in all dance routines.
Quercia said she wasn’t upset about not being included in the conversation. He said it was an “amazing” move by the Rams to finally add a man to the cheer team after such a long time… and hopes more teams follow in their footsteps.
