NICHOLVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) — Patricia Mary Tharrett, 88, died September 30, 2022 at her family’s home in Nicholville, New York, with her loving and devoted husband, who was 71, by her side.
She was born on October 22, 1933 and grew up in North Lawrence, New York. Patricia was the youngest child of Mabel and Charles Ashlaw, who predeceased her, and her siblings Herman, Robert, and Lorraine. Patricia had also passed away from her beloved son Michael.
Both beautiful and intelligent, Patricia excelled at cheerleading and graduated first class from St. Lawrence Central School in 1950 with highest honors. Although she was proud of her early life, her greatest pride was being a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was famous for her cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting. Her secret ingredient has always been love.
Pat welcomed everyone into her home, including the famous neighborhood playdates for what appeared to be entire children’s armies and baked goods for countless classes for school parties. Those who knew Pat said she always greeted them with a smile and was the first to volunteer, offering a kind word and (when considered lucky or brave) her cheek and opinion.
She was always a phone call away even if you were in another part of the world. If you needed a prescription or your hair French braided, permed or curled, she was glad you wanted her expertise. They knew there was a hot meal and a pillow for the night if needed. She touched the lives of so many and the world was a better place to have her in it.
Patricia is survived by husband James Tharrett, daughter Deborah (Marvin) Rust, son Gary (Cathy) Tharrett, son David (Patricia) Tharrett, daughter-in-law Sue (Michael) Tharrett, daughter Michelle (James) Brockway, and son Wayne (Sandi) Tharrett. Patricia leaves behind a legacy of 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom she loved to the moon and back.
Patricia would love for you to join us to say Goodbye Until We Meet Again at her wake on October 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, New York say Catholic service follows.
