Program to Provide $60,000 to Texas Public School Teachers Impacting Student Health

The Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Lottery today announced a new Funds for Fitness program that recognizes and rewards Texas public school educators who are making an impact on student health through physical education, coaching, health player mentality and leadership. Teachers, coaches, mentors and managers can be nominated online at www.dallascowboys.com/fundsforfitness by friends, family and fellow trainers starting October 10th. Over time, the Dallas Cowboys will select 12 coaches to each receive $5,000. they will be awarded for their school’s continued efforts in health and wellness.

“The Dallas Cowboys are excited to partner with the Texas Lottery to provide this renewed Funds for Fitness program to public schools across Texas,” said Charlotte Jones, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Director of Brand Brand. “Through this partnership, we will not only have the opportunity to provide teachers with additional resources to influence the physical and mental health of their students, but we will also recognize these teachers for their hard work and the sacrifice they show every day.”

The 2022 Funds for Fitness program represents the second year of a five-year commitment that will provide a total of $300,000 to Texas public school teachers and educators who are committed to increasing the health and wellness of their students through 2026.

“The Texas Lottery is proud to continue to partner with the Cowboys on this project that aligns with our mission to support public education in Texas,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery. “These teachers are doing so much for Texas public schools to improve student health and wellness and we are proud to highlight their efforts.”

As part of the nomination process, nominees must explain why teachers deserve recognition and how their work affects the lives of students. Multimedia materials such as videos and photos are also requested as part of the online selection. Nominations will be accepted from all public schools in Texas, except schools within a 75-mile radius of Houston, Texas. Due to National Football League market restrictions, the Dallas Cowboys are unable to offer this program to schools in the Houston Texans area.
