Cheerleading: Cairo earns at-large bid to state meet

CAIRO – The Cairo High School cheerleading team received an at-large bid to the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association state meet.

This is MCCA St. Louis Regional competition on Sunday, October 2, St. at Lindenwood University in Charles.

Cairo competes in the 1st Division Junior Division.

Father Tolton Regional Catholic was the overall winner, Chafee second, Neelyville third, East Carter fourth, St. Vincent (Perryville) fifth, Christian sixth, South Callaway (Mokane) seventh and then Cairo.

Cairo’s cheerleading squad includes Paige Luntsford, Caroline Ellison, Sophy Mollick, Kristen Gosseen, Lauren Schoonover, Addison Pollard, Darcy Pierce, Emma Alexander, Alexandra Lucas, Victoria Wortmann, Journey Sander, Paige Westhues and Kylee Dodge.

The cheerleaders prepared for the competition through summer clinics in Hallsville and work at Eagle Elite in Columbia.

Westran won the Division 1 Senior meet at Avila University in Kansas City in late September.
