ROCKINGHAM — The lights at Raider Stadium shone brightly for the Class of 2023 on Friday as members of the senior class were recognized.

The Richmond Senior High School football team lost a nail-biter, 22-21, to rival Scotland High School, but before the game and at halftime, this year’s seniors were honored for their contributions.

Escorted by family members and a member of the Richmond faculty, the senior football players also had a number 34 balloon arrangement.

It was a gesture of support for sophomore teammate Bobby Little, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Also known before the game were Richmond’s six senior cheerleaders: Cayden Hood, Akira Jackson, Madisyn Locklear, Tatum Rhyne, Sanajia Tillman and Abby Williams.

Members of the Richmond band and color guard were also honored at halftime. Those members were: Cyncere Bell, Makayla Conaway, Terrae Covington, Neely Dawkins, Nicholas Ewing, Rachel Martin, Layla Morman, Heather Pike, Asrella Redfearn, Kadia Rucker, Leah Squires and Damani Terry.
