Wallin heads the cheerleading corps

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW cheerleading alumna Katie Wallin has been named the newest coach of the Seahawk cheerleaders.

A 2003 graduate of UNCW, Wallin spent four years as a cheerleader at UNCW from 1999-2003 and is eager to share his extensive experience. He graduated from the Cameron School of Business with a degree in Marketing with a concentration in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology.

The Kentucky native grew up in Greensboro and attended Northwest Guilford High School. She cheered for the Vikings and cheered for the Cheer Extreme Allstars competition.

“I have a great passion for cheerleading and my alma mater,” Wallin said. “I am honored to mentor these athletes and help provide them with an amazing college experience. I am grateful to be a part of their legacy.”

Wallin is married to UNCW student Carl Wallin and the couple has four children: Skylar (13), Kaden (12), Greyson (4) and newborn Georgia Rae.

Tryouts for the 2021-22 cheerleaders will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, 2021 at Cheer Infinity Allstars, 325 Forest Park Road, Wilmington, NC. For more information, contact Wallin at walllink@uncw.edu
