Maui Interscholastic League champion Baldwin High School finished third in the all-girls division at the Zippy/HSAA state cheerleading championships Tuesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Bears — the 2019 large division champions who are the lone MIL team in the state competition this year — scored 39,067 points on a 49.3 scale to finish behind state champions Moanalua (44.2) and Kamehameha Kapalama (40,233) in the eight-member division. school.

In the co-ed division, Iolani won with 43.9 points, just edging out Radford (43.45). Kapaa finished third in the six-team co-ed division.

This is the first cheerleading state title for Iolani. For Moanalua, it’s Na Menehune’s eighth state crown – they won the big division last year.
