Former Rider Raider named to XFL team for 2023

The XFL will be back next year and Wichita Falls will know someone in the league next year.

The XFL tried to return in 2020, but things were going well at the time. The world shut down due to Covid-19 and the league had to find new owners. One of the partial owners of the league is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. It’s pretty funny because he actually cut a promotion for the league when it launched in 2001.

In 2023 the league will again have eight teams. Six of them are returning from the 2020 season and two new teams will be formed. Los Angeles, New York and Tampa Bay will not have XFL teams. The New York Guardians are now the Orlando Guardians. The Tampa Bay Vipers are now the Vegas Vipers. The Los Angeles Wildcats…that team name is gone this upcoming season.

Taking eighth place is a team right here in Texas. Welcome to the XFL, San Antonio Brahmas. Over the past week, the XFL has held a player draft and some familiar names are being drafted. For example, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci has been picked up by the Seattle Seadragons.

Another former Dallas Cowboy and Wichita Falls T.J. Vasher, who attended Rider High School, has been picked up by the aforementioned San Antonio Brahmas rookie. In 2021, T.J. Vasher signed with the Dallas Cowboys after going undrafted. He spent the season on the reserve/non-football injury list. On August 30 of this year, he officially waived practice and after a few preseason games with the team.

The team closest to us in Wichita Falls will be the Arlington Renegades (Former Dallas Renegades). The team plays at the old Texas Rangers Stadium, now called Choctaw Stadium. We’ll wait to see if the Brahams have a game against the Renegades in Arlington when a schedule is released, so T.J. some local fans can attend.

I was literally planning on going to the Renegades game the week the 2020 world closed. I promise to attend at least one game next season to see the XFL in action.

What Does the Dallas Cowboys Infamous ‘White House’ Look Like Today?
