The City of York hosts an annual Christmas Parade

York, Ala. (WTOK) – A Sumter County town celebrated the holiday season on Saturday.

The city of York, Alabama held its annual Christmas parade in town featuring a band, two cheerleading squads, a fire truck, several businesses and more.

Kylea Grant, one of the cheerleaders in the parade, talks about what is her favorite part of the parade.

“Participate and cheer. It’s fun and exciting,” Grant said.

Jeffery Artis, who works on the city’s economic development board, appreciates receiving all the support from inside and outside the community.

“My favorite part of the parade right now is just having the community come out and have a positive impact and positive energy here in town. With so many people coming not only here locally but from Meridian, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Jackson, MS, Madison, MS just supporting the city of York,” Artis said.

A member of the Sumter County Alumni Band, who won the Best Overall float was happy to win first place.

York City presented another trophy. CCA Elite Dance Group won Best Musical Performance.

Livingston Junior High Cheerleaders won Best Walking Unit and The Coleman Center for the Arts won Best Vehicle.
