Video of NFL cheerleaders’ ‘epic’ surprise at coach’s wedding goes viral

Wedding reception surprises caught on camera often make the rounds on the internet and warrant some major “Awws.” A bride surprised her husband in a way only an NFL cheerleading coach could — by being joined by Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders in an “epic” surprise dance routine.

A video posted by bride Brielle Gatto Lucas on TikTok has garnered more than 83,000 views. The video was also posted by one of the cheerleaders, @deja.ellena, who joined her in the dance, and her video has been viewed more than 5 million times.

The Brian Jenkins-directed video opens with a shot of Lucas’ husband sitting in a chair with his back to the door as cheerleaders enter the wedding reception to Beyoncé’s Run the World (Girls). Not long behind him is the bride, dressed in her wedding cheerleader uniform – complete with white pom poms.

In December, another professional sports team and their dancers went viral when a dancer for the Utah Jazz basketball team surprised her boyfriend with a courtside proposal.

Newsweek reported that dancer Danielle Bush began dancing with her team as usual during Monday night’s game when the music suddenly changed to Marry You by Bruno Mars. Her boyfriend crept onto the field behind her, holding a small box, ready to pop the big question, making for “the most epic night” of Bush’s life, according to her Instagram post commemorating the big moment.

Lucas works as one of the coaches for the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders – she used to be on the team herself.

During Lucas’ wedding in December, she and the dancers performed for about two minutes in front of her husband and all their guests to a medley of Beyoncé songs and the sound of applause.

And to finish, they closed with Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).

Messages of support and praise filled the comments section below Lucas’ video, which she wrote: “Thank you Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders for the most EPIC surprise for my husband!…”

“My eyes stayed on you, amazing!!!!,” said one commenter.

On the version published by @deja.ellena, thousands of comments poured in under the clip, applauding the work of the dancers.

“She’s a coach AND a CHOREOGRAPHER,” wrote one commenter. “[B]onside she was planning a wedding?!? [S]he’s divine.”

“My trainer >>> She is a real star!,” added @deja.ellena in the comment below her video. “So honored she wanted us to be apart of her special day!…”

Newsweek has reached out to Brielle Gatto Lucas and @deja.ellena for comment.
