OSU Flashback: Dan Bailey wins the Lou Groza Award on this day in 2010
On the same day that receiver Justin Blackmon won Oklahoma State’s first Biletnikoff Award (12 years ago today), kicker Dan Bailey won OSU’s first Lou Groza Award.
Mustang’s Bailey ranked second nationally in scoring after making 24 of 28 field goals and 65 of 66 extra point attempts. After accepting the award, Bailey was asked if he fought the teammate who led to the only PAT miss of his career, which occurred in the Texas game (he was blocked).
“No, I’ll take the blame. I don’t want to be that guy,” he said.
Bailey would have a long career in the NFL, first with the Dallas Cowboys (2011-2017) and then with the Minnesota Vikings (2018-2020).
