Cheerleaders for NFL teams perform an exciting act that provides teams with additional coverage, home support, and entertainment for fans before games and during the offseason. But not all NFL teams have cheerleaders supporting them on the sidelines.
The NFL has 32 teams, but seven of those franchises don’t have cheerleading squads. The Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers are the NFL teams without cheerleaders this season.
Why do some NFL teams not have cheerleaders?
There are similarities between businessmen and cheerleaders – they both play their home games in cold cities and stadiums. Read also : Dreams Come True: Victoria. While cheerleaders often suit up in bad clothes, it’s not impossible to find cheerleaders entertaining crowds in cold weather.
However, some of the groups mentioned above have had cheerleaders in the past. But due to some issues, they quickly disbanded, or their activities stopped.
The Buffalo Bills used to have a cheerleading squad, but it quickly disbanded after several cheerleaders sued the team. The Bucks now have a stadium, dubbed ‘The Stampede’, to entertain their home crowd during games.
The Chicago Bears used to have cheerleaders to draw fans. However, owner Virginia Halas McCaskey did not renew the players’ contracts after the Super Bowl victory in 1986.
Also, the Green Bay Packers had their own cheerleaders until 1977. However, the Packers sometimes had cheerleading squads from nearby colleges to cheer the crowd.
Another NFL team that used to have cheerleaders was the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the Steelers disbanded the team in 1969 and have not had a cheerleading squad since.
The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are the only two teams in league history to never have cheerleaders.
