Poplar Bluff Cheerleading wins second straight state championship

RT GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Poplar Bluff Mules are back-to-back state champions.

Battling for the Class 4A small title at the Show Me Center on Saturday, Poplar Bluff climbed to the top of the pyramid once again.

“We’ve overcome so much as a team and I’m so proud of us,” senior Lanie Robertson said. “The majority of this team was back-to-back because we didn’t have any seniors last year … I feel so blessed and honored to be a part of this team.”

Three Heartland teams also finished second: Sikeston in the Coed Small class, Neelyville in the 1A Small class and Cape Central (in just its second year as a team) in the 4A Large class.

The Tigers placed second in Class 1A small.

Rounding out the action on the first day, Jackson took home a 4th place finish in Class 5A Small, while East Carter (10th), Chaffee (7th) and St. Vincent (3rd) joined Neelyville in Class 1A Small.
