Obituary for Phyllis Rose (Holt) Crawford

Phyllis Rose (Holt) Crawford, of Osceola, IN, joined her Lord and Savior on December 8, 2022 at the age of 87, surrounded by loved ones.

Phyllis was born on August 20, 1935 in Granger, IN, to William Holt and Georgia (Laughter) Holt.

She attended elementary school at Osceola School where she was a cheerleader and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953. She married Raymond E. Crawford on June 3, 1953, and they welcomed three children into the world: Linda (Crawford) Szuba, Jerry Crawford, and Raymond Crawford Jr. She worked for Mossberg for over 20 years before retiring.

She was a longtime member of The Osceola and Mishawaka Grace Brethren Church, where she devoted much of her life to service. She enjoyed decorating weddings and events all her life and loved hosting her sisters, family and friends for dinner parties. She spent her retirement years with her family, decorating her house and crocheting the most beautiful gifts. She was known to all as a true prayer warrior and a woman of God.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, her son Jerry Crawford, her parents, her siblings Doris (Holt) Leippert, Helen (Holt) Buckner, Patricia (Holt) Logan, Joyce (Holt) Bianco, Garnet (Holt) Fernsler, Steve Holt, Janet Sue Holt and their respective spouses. She is survived by her brother Don Holt and his wife Carol Holt, daughter Linda (Crawford) Szuba, Mark Szuba (son-in-law), Raymond Crawford Jr., her grandchildren Michelle (Rockstad) Knaup, Dan Knaup (grandson-in-law) Lela Crawford-Benson, Alexander Benson (grandson-in-law), Laura Szuba, and her great-grandchildren Avelynn, Ella, Remington, and Xander (Crawford) Benson as well as her many nieces and nephews.

A viewing at Palmer Funeral Home- Bubb Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka IN 46545 will take place Wednesday evening, December 14, 2022 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10:00 am, with funeral services at 11:00 am, burial and dinner to follow (location of the dinner will be announced during the funeral service).
