Cheerleaders, basketball stars: Vote for Pocono Athletes of the Week for December 5-11

Those layups and rebounds wouldn’t be complete without a cheer squad rooting for the home team.

This week’s poll is dedicated to basketball players and cheerleaders in Monroe County.

And a big shout out to last week’s winners: Pocono Mountain West wrestlers, Kaylee Rist, Seretta Manuel, Mia Ariola, Autumn Kanas, Giavanna Praino and Juju Pagan West, star of the Panthers’ basketball team.

Each week, the Pocono Record will publish online Athletes of the Week polls. This week’s polls will run until Thursday at 7 p.m.

Voting is limited to once per hour via public IP addresses. The women’s poll can be accessed online at Find the boys poll at

Descriptions of the athletes’ performances are included before the election.

Girls’ Athletes of the Week

Zoe Brown, junior, Stroudsburg basketball On the same subject : Former NY Jets HC Rex Ryan is a contestant on The Amazing Race.

With his impressive stats, the point guard scored 11 points in the home opener against East Stroudsburg North. Final score: Lady Mountaineers, 65, Lady Timberwolves, 33.

Olivia Vinsky, Chevannes of Brittany, and Kaylie Kimler, Sophia Ianconetti, South East Stroudsburg sailing squad

With their fly-overs, stunts and other magic moves, these four teammates lead the squad into championship territory once again.

The 2019, 2021, and 2022 District XI champions placed third (out of 14 teams) in the EPC league competition held in Easton on December 7.

Vatijah Davis, senior, Pocono Mountain West basketball

The star athlete continues to impress.

Davis scored 14 points as the Panthers topped the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers 49-28 on December 9.

Boys’ Athletes of the Week

The boys’ squad played a big part in helping their female counterparts in last week’s EPC competition in Easton.

Emmanuel Kenyai, senior, North East Stroudsburg basketball

The point guard was named North’s MVP for his outstanding performance at home when the Timberwolves beat Stroudsburg 70-62 on December 9.

Kyon Coles Jr., freshman, Pocono Mountain West basketball

Coles Jr., scored 13 points in the game against South East Stroudsburg on December 9.

A player to keep an eye on this season, his defensive and offensive moves on the court contributed to the Panther’s 68-43 win over the Cavaliers.
