Lemont Hornets Lightweight Cheerleading Squad Finishes Third at …

LEMONT, IL – The Lemont Hornets lightweight cheer team recently completed a successful season with a third place finish at the Illinois Cheer Association state competition.

The team, which includes second-, third- and fourth-grade girls, earned a state bid in two qualifiers this season.

“I’m so proud of these girls,” head coach Anna Howard told Patch. “They have faced many trials this season with illness and injury. We have certainly held them!”

Howard said the Hornets were up against a top 10 team in the state and called their third-place finish in the small division of the competition an “incredible accomplishment. Read also : Board approves hiring, cheerleading competitions | News | indianagazette.com.”

“A lot of [the girls] have never cheered before,” Howard said. “Winning third is a testament to what amazing little athletes they are!”
