Angela (“Angie”) Susan Gatlin Sherrill, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 14, 2022. She was born to Robert W. and Mary Sidowey Gatlin on September 8, 1963. Angie graduated from OLPH and Notre Dame High School . in Chattanooga, where she was a cheerleader, and attended both UTC, where she was also a cheerleader, and Cleveland State. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga and worked at First Federal Bank and Prudential Realty in Chattanooga before moving to Florida where she was employed by Graboski Roofing Company as a customer service manager in Boca Raton. Angie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She also loved her family, friends, the outdoors, swimming, boating, the sun and the beach. Angie was a very strong and courageous woman. As a quadriplegic for the last 16 years of her life, Angie endured many health challenges and setbacks that she was very determined to overcome and always came back stronger than ever, except for the last time. She is now free from the pain and suffering she endured in the last years of her life. Angie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William H. and Katherine Sidowey; paternal grandparents, Bill and Ruby Gatlin; a special father figure, Billy R. Richardson, and her much-loved golden retriever, Baby. She is survived by her husband, William E. Sherrill of Chattanooga; mother, Mary Sidowey Gatlin of Chattanooga; a daughter, Jennifer England Thomas of Atlanta; a son, Blake England (Lauren) of Chattanooga; grandchildren Ryan Thomas and Rosemary James England; brothers Samuel “Chip” Gatlin (Kelly) and Jimmy Gatlin (Karyn); niece, Abbie Gatlin White (Chase); nephews Nick, Conner and Adam (Molly) Gatlin; uncles William A. Sidowey and Robert L. Sidowey; special friends Rhonda Cantrell, Alice Carson and Julie Reilly; and her beloved cat Ruby. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., January 5, 2023, at Northside Presbyterian Church, 923 Mississippi Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37405, with Dr. Paul Rader. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm prior to the service at the church.
