Jessica Simpson seems to have taken part in an age-old holiday tradition: rummaging through her childhood belongings while visiting her parents.
On Tuesday, January 3, the 42-year-old pop star – known for hits like “With You” and “Irresistible” – shared a selfie on Instagram wearing a cheerleading jacket from when she was 13 years old. “I found my eighth grade principal’s cheerleading jacket,” she wrote in the caption. (She was head cheerleader, of course — she’s Jessica Simpson.)
The green and yellow varsity jacket features a capital R embroidered with the name Jessica itself. Simpson styled her own vintage piece with an orange beanie and silver hoop earrings.
Jessica’s sister, Ashlee, was quick to comment. “Yes! Go Vikings!” Actor Sharon Stone also offered to comment, “U go girl.” Simple, but so true.
A few days earlier, on Christmas Eve, Simpson posted a photo of her daughter Maxwell, 10, posing in front of the Christmas tree and all the presents underneath and around it.
“Yesterday Maxwell came home from a visit to @animalrescueah and decided to make dog, cat and rabbit treats for the whole gang!” Simpson wrote. “She then insisted that we drop them off with some beds and toys so they can enjoy the Christmas spirit as she does. Her heart is beautiful and truly overflows with unparalleled empathy. She asked me to instagram with attached information so maybe these animals can find their way into the loving homes they all deserve!”
The real question is, will Maxwell follow in Jess’ footsteps and become a cheerleader by the time he’s 13? Stay tuned.
