Another new year has just begun, and residents of The Waters of McMurray senior living community officially celebrated it on the evening of January 4th.
Nineteen cheerleaders from the Peters City High School cheer squad came to the community and performed. Several residents also joined in the cheering.
The event came about through the personal connections of some of the girls on the cheerleading squad. Three of them have grandparents living in the community, including team captain Rachel Zeisloft. Her grandparents are Ruth and Sam Zeisloft.
“McMurray Waters is to be commended for continuing to provide us with exciting entertainment. Our operations manager never ceases to find interesting and engaging activities for us to enjoy,” said Ruth Zeisloft.
“As Rachel’s grandmother, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to personally watch my granddaughter lead a fantastic team of girls with her cheers.”
Cheerleading was the kickoff to an intergenerational program that the community offers to residents throughout the year.
“We definitely encourage an intergenerational program here at The Waters. The fact that some of the girls on the team have family here makes it even more special to bring the generations together,” said Christina Szewczyk, Director of Active Life at The Waters of McMurray.
The Waters, which owns and operates a dozen communities across the country, including two in Pennsylvania, prides itself on providing active community living for seniors. It offers a vibrant and enriching experience where residents engage in a variety of meaningful activities including art, music, physical wellness, spirituality, culinary experiences and more.
Residents interact and experience a wide range of freedom in choosing their daily activities. Such a dynamic environment is crucial for long-term well-being. One of the positive effects of an active life is longevity and a renewed sense of purpose in later years.
