Chargers vs. Jaguars: Best bets for this Saturday night NFL wild card …

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is second in the NFL in pass attempts this season with 699.

It has been a few years since the Los Angeles Chargers or Jacksonville Jaguars made the NFL playoffs.

The Chargers (10-7) are making their first appearance since 2018, earning the fifth seed as a wild card. LA finished second in the AFC West behind the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jaguars (9-8) last made the postseason in 2017. Jacksonville started the season 2-7, including all five games in October, but has since gone on to win seven of its last nine games. AFC South title and winning the No. 4 seeds.

The two will now face off Saturday night in Jacksonville in the second of six Wild Card playoff games. It will be the second meeting between the Chargers and Jaguars this season. Back in Week 3, Jacksonville won 38-10 with Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence throwing three touchdowns along the way.

Currently, the Chargers are favored by 2 points this Saturday.

Jacksonville is 8-9 against the spread and 7-5 as an underdog. It’s at home where the Jags are as good as dogs, going 4-0 ATS at TIAA Bank Stadium.

But in the last five, where the Jaguars are undefeated and the Chargers are 4-1, the score has increased.

Jacksonville scored 29.2 points in the division, while Los Angeles averaged 23.8 per game.

At home, the Jags average 22.4 points. On the road, the Chargers are averaging 24.1 points per.

With a clear north Florida night reserved for these two offenses that love to throw the football, more than seems safe.

His 278.8-yards-per-game average is third in the league behind Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

Jacksonville’s pass defense is fifth-worst in the NFL, giving up 238.5 yards per game on average. In the first meeting between the two teams, Herbert threw for 297 yards.

Over the past five games, Herbert is averaging 280 passing yards.
