When Washington met Georgia-bound players in camp as a recruit, they assumed he was an offensive lineman. He had to address them, but essentially Washington was the sixth offensive player for Georgia when he wasn’t even throwing touchdown passes. Brock Bowers overshadowed him in the pass-catching department, but those who watched all of Georgia’s games attest that Washington was nearly as valuable overall.

The way Washington handles his role is also instructive: He didn’t transfer Bowers after the 2021 season when it became clear he was a star. Washington achieved his important role and was often one of the biggest cheerleaders on the field. When Bowers ran down the field for a 75-yard touchdown earlier in the season, Washington was hard to miss as he ran down the field, jumping and celebrating. – Emerson
