JAN 6 LAMAR JACKSON TRADE? The expiring contract of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is a problem … and the complication has worsened the knee injury that has seen him miss the last six games … including the loss of 24- 17 for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
With the offseason underway, the Ravens are looking for answers on what to do with their franchise quarterback. The rumor mill on Twitter suggests that the Ravens will likely franchise tag Jackson and then trade him.
Are the Atlantic Falcons “front of the line?”
January 15 STILL LIVE! The New York Giants are on to the Divisional Round after beating the Minnesota Vikings 31-24 on Sunday at US Bank Stadium. … and so – scheduling involved, of course – three NFC East teams are still alive.
With the result in Minny, the Giants will now face the Philadelphia Eagles next week in the Divisional Round.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys are set to play Monday night against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the fourth and final spot in the next round. … and the winner of the MNF game will advance to meet the Niners next week.
JANUARY 14 NFL WILD CARD SATURDAY And that, Dallas Cowboys, is tough to follow!
Saturday’s NFL playoffs kicked off with a pair of comeback results.
After the San Francisco 49ers came back from trailing at halftime to win by three scores (41-23 over Seattle), the Jacksonville Jaguars managed a 27-point comeback (the third largest in NFL history) to beat the Los Angeles Chargers at home.
The weak start came in the first half thanks to five Jaguars turnovers … including four Trevor Lawrence interceptions. But … the Chargers found a way to blow their four-touchdown start to lose 31-30 in Jacksonville.
Lawrence came back by throwing three touchdown passes in the second half to get Jacksonville back on track.
See the information? Yes, this is the same Jags group that trailed Dallas by 17 points late in the regular season before storming back for a 40-34 OT win.
And of course the 49ers are the same bunch that beat Dallas last year in the first round of the playoffs.
The 49ers will host the top remaining NFC playoff team, while the Jaguars await their opponent based on Sunday’s results. And the Cowboys play Monday night, certainly hoping for a less dramatic Tampa Bay win.
January 14 COWBOYS LEAD NFL “America’s Team” has done it again.
According to the Sunday Night Football report, the Dallas Cowboys led the NFL in terms of total home attendance with 841,192 total fans through nine games at AT&T Stadium this year.
The New York Giants were the next total with 688,266.
There are obviously many factors at play here: fan loyalty and passion … a winning team (12-5 overall and 8-1 at home) … the NFL’s third-largest stadium (behind MetLife Stadium and Lambeau Field alone) – but a stadium that is its own drawcard, even for fans of the other team.
But No. 1 No. 1. … with Cowboys Nation hoping the good feeling travels to Tampa Bay for Monday night’s playoff opener.
Jan. 8: COWBOYS’ CAREER QUESTIONS The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who started their run to a division title with a Week 1 win in Dallas, now host the rematch on Wild Card Weekend … with the Cowboys opening as a favorite 3 points.
The Buccaneers swept the NFC South a week ago, and the events of Week 18 – in which Dallas’ shocking 26-6 loss at Washington puts the 12-5 Cowboys into the fifth seed as the top Wild Card team.
Times and dates for the first round of the playoffs will be announced late Sunday, but the Bucs will host Dallas at Raymond James Stadium next weekend.
And yes, CowboysSI.com will be there!
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of the loss in Washington and the upcoming prospect: “We’ve got to rely on that all week. If that doesn’t prepare you to play in six or seven days, nothing else will.”
8 JANUARY Hurts vs. WEBB Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will start Sunday’s regular season finale against the New York Giants; no surprise there, sore shoulder or not, the Eagles need a win to keep the wild Boys at bay.
And the Giants? It seems someone explained something to first-year fireball head coach Brian Daboll, who previously talked about “playing to win” even though the Giants (like Philly and Dallas) are tied to play but have no reason to to risk injury. here.
So … New York will give the post to practice-squad quarterback Davis Webb.
The Eagles are 13-3 but have lost two straight and must win or tie against the Irish to clinch the top seed in the NFC and secure a first round berth. In the unlikely event that the Eagles lose, the 12-4 Cowboys can jump up with a win at Washington today. they could also get the top seed if the Cowboys (12-4) lose to the Chiefs and the 49ers (12-4) lose to the Cardinals.
Webb, who was a third-round draft pick of the Giants in 2017 but did not attempt a pass in a regular-season NFL game.
JAN 6 JERRY ON LEAGUE VOTE ON AFC TITLE GAME NFL owners have voted to approve proposed changes to the AFC playoffs, highlighted by the possibility of a neutral site AFC title game, according to reports from the Network NFL Friday. …
As Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones predicted it would happen a little earlier in the day.
“We’re going to vote to accommodate our circumstances because of the concern and adjust what we had to do because of Damar Hamlin’s injuries and that will be done and it should be completed by noon,” Jones said. on 105.3 The Fan.
Jones explained his opinion on how the league must balance the importance of home field advantage with the circumstances surrounding the fall of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
“This is a critical time,” Jones said. “Home field advantages earned by the way your team has played throughout the year, these are all very valuable things – they have no use … right now. (They should) not be considered (and not ) to be confused (compared with) sensitivity to Hamlin’s injuries at all.”
The AFC’s rescheduling plan comes as Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest in the first quarter of Monday’s game with the Cincinnati Bengals, resulting in the game being canceled.
Full details of the new playoff and AFC game plan can be read here.
SECTION 4 ‘NO CLUB’ Cowboys “Lion-backer” Micah Parsons has a nasty cut on his arm, as first reported by CowboysSI.som, and slavery – along with what we know was a bit of swelling – was cause it. We have to play in last week’s victory against the Titans with such a wrap that we all took to label it as a “club.”
Wednesday’s injury report is now out, and Micah is out … And he doesn’t expect the injury to limit him Sunday in Week 18 at the Chiefs.
“We’ll be full forever,” Parsons said. “No club.”
4 JAN WASHINGTON COMMANDER BENCH WENTZ A week after quarterback Carson Wentz replaced Taylor Heinicke as the team’s starter, it is being reported that Washington is reversing course.
While Heinicke is expected to be the starter, the same report says rookie Sam Howell will also get playing time, making his NFL debut in the final week of the regular season.
As of now, the team has yet to be confirmed. .. and unfortunately, the report is not quite right.
Carson Wentz is getting benched (again) … even as coach Ron Rivera says he has “no regrets” about the decision to start Wentz in last week’s eye-killing playoff loss to the Browns .
Update: Howell is now getting first-team reps in Washington practice …
And Howell will be the starter on Sunday.
The 7-8-1 Chiefs are probably wise to start the experiment with the rookie Howell, as there isn’t much else to achieve here against 12-4 Dallas, which is playoff bound and still chasing the NFC East to win.
January 3 NFL MOVE Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s on-field collapse rocked the sports world Monday night, when the 24-year-old went into cardiac arrest during the first quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.
Hamlin remains in critical condition in the ICU at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. And on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys and all NFL teams showed support for the safety for the second year, as every Twitter profile picture for the league and its team was changed to jersey No. 3 with the message “Pray for Damar.”
The game between the Bengals and the Bills was temporarily suspended before being postponed entirely on Monday night. On Tuesday, the league revealed that the game will not be played this week and that there is currently no timetable for resuming action.
JAN 3 NFL PLAN MORE The Week 17 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals will not be played this week after Bills safety Damar Hamlin fell down the field, the league announced Tuesday.
The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical staff treating Damar Hamlin, as well as the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association.
After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be restarted this week.
The NFL has not made any decision regarding a possible restart of the game at a later date.
The league has not made any changes to the regular season 18 schedule.
We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The Dallas Cowboys will then play as scheduled Sunday afternoon at Washington. See below for more…
JAN 2 COWBOYS-COMMANDERS RECORD TIME The Dallas Cowboys will play the Washington Commanders at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday, the NFL announced today.
The Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles (home vs. the Giants) and San Francisco 49ers (home vs. the Cardinals) will all play their respective games in the same 3:25 slot … so no team will have an advantage on information. regarding his playoff setup.
Here is the breakdown of the Dallas situations, as well as the probability that the Cowboys will open the playoffs at Tampa Bay.
Also, Sunday Night Football between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field will be on NBC.
JAN 2 WELCOME BACK! “It might be a little premature and it might be a little optimistic, but the Dallas Cowboys have an injury plan for the playoffs.
“We will be welcoming back three really good football players,” said COO Stephen Jones on Monday in a visit to 105.3 The Fan, with a look towards the postseason. “Leighton Vander Esch, definitely (Johnathan) Hankins, and then if we get (Tyler) Biadasz back … that will be a big plus for our group.”
Linebacker Vander Esch (neck/shoulder will sit out this week at Washington. Hankins, the running back and shortstop. has a pec injury. for another week.
Jones said of Biadasz: “I think after we get a full week with him and see how he’s responding to treatment … We’ll just see what the week brings, but we certainly feel it’s a realistic chance (the medical staff ) could get. he’s ready to play for the first round of the playoffs.”
28 December Me too! Dez Bryant has moved on from football, to become a family man and businessman, and has not played in the NFL since 2020.
But he is sure to have some fun with the idea of another “retired” great Dallas Cowboys trying to make a comeback.
According to a CowboysSI.com scoop, Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, 49, is calling Jerry Jones’ office, wanting to try out.
“If T.O is coming back … sign me up with a playoff team … seriously! LFG,” Bryant tweeted.
Bryant, 34, was a Pro Bowl force who had 7,459 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns in eight seasons with the Cowboys. Like Owens, he keeps himself in fine shape, and … Well, these are fun ideas … but not the Cowboys’ ideas, if you get what we mean.
26 DECEMBER WHITE ON WHITE Because we know you’re interested …
We can report that this is the week you see a “fresh” look with the iconic Cowboys uniform, the white “Color Rush” uniform with navy trim … plus the white helmet with the new star …
All of this will reveal itself in this Week 17 meeting with the Tennessee Titans in a Thursday Night Football game.
The freshness is subtle. But the face masks should pop!
DECEMBER 24 SHUT UP AND PLAY This week, Cowboys head Jayron Kearse basically insisted his locker room shut up and play.
Kearse said ahead of the Eagles’ visit on Saturday: “We’ve spoken a lot. At this point, we shouldn’t need to talk anymore. We should be about business. We should be about action. The film should speak. I don’t really think there’s much more talk to be done than just doing the job.”
So far, Kearse is living up to that, with two takeaways that are largely responsible for keeping Dallas in this game. His second…
The Dála result from Michael Gallup, another man who let us play – or in this case, his toes – do his talking for him.
Dallas is tied 27-all with the Eagles entering the fourth here at AT&T Stadium.
DECEMBER 21 Cowboys and Eagles injury reports are in for Wednesday. By Micah Parsons and Jalen The DNP highlights hurt again.
Regardless of who plays on Saturday, the Cowboys promise to be ready.
“I think everybody in the locker room is looking forward to this rematch,” Dak Prescott said, adding, “Understand that (Eagles) are playing their ass off, what a hell of a season. …
“You just want to get another shot, make sure you put your best foot forward.”
DECEMBER 21 MICAH OUT AGAIN Micah Parsons will appear on Wednesday’s practice/injury report as he did Tuesday, and will list the “Lion-backer” as DNP (illness).
“Micah Parsons won’t be with us today … He’s going around,” coach Mike McCarthy said of the illness bug.
The Cowboys will host the Eagles on Christmas Eve.
DEC 20 Malik Jefferson, who was waived from the Cowboys practice squad last week, re-signed to the practice squad, the team says.
Jefferson, a 26-year-old former Texas Longhorn, can offer depth in the building after the short-term injury to Leighton Vander Esch.
DECEMBER 20 DALLAS AT DALLAS The Eagles announced Tuesday that Dallas Goedert has been activated from IR. … Just in time to play against his hated namesake, the Dallas Cowboys.
Goedert has been sidelined since Week 10 with a shoulder injury, but he’s back on board for the 13-1 Eagles with 544 yards and three touchdowns on 43 catches through nine games to complement receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Philly will likely be without QB Jalen Hurts (shoulder) for Saturday’s game at 10-4 Dallas.
DECEMBER 18 KELVIN BENCED Suddenly the Cowboys have defensive problems.
In one instance, they pulled starting cornerback Kelvin Joseph after he gave up two consecutive touchdown catches allowed. … so Nahshon Wright is into a game.
Meanwhile, safety Donovan Wilson is injured, as is Leighton Vander Esch.
Put it all up? Dallas was up 27-10, but Trevor Lawrence, taking advantage of some of Dak Prescott’s sloppiness, has thrown three TD passes … and the Jags are up 31-27 with 10 minutes left.
DECEMBER 18 LVE HURT Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch is being escorted to the locker room in Jacksonville and has now been ruled out as a possibility to return for the game against the Jags.
Amid speculation about a possible concussion, the Cowboys are calling it a neck injury.
Micah Parsons has a sack and Ezekiel Elliott has a TD and the Cowboys lead 21-10 in the third as the win clinches the playoff spot.
DECEMBER 18 COACH TO HOSPITAL Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees, 73, has been carted off the field in New Orleans during pregame warmups today after being accidentally bumped by a Saints player.
The Falcons say Pees – who remained on the ground for some time after the collision – is “alert and responsive” as he is being transported to a local hospital for medical testing.
14 DECEMBER ‘STAND BY’ Jerry Jones wants it.
The Cowboys owner was asked by DFW media late Wednesday afternoon about the ideal timetable for Odell Beckham Jr.
“Sooner rather than later,” he said.
“I don’t want to talk about that just wait,” Jones said. But stand by. Stand up.”
Jones, even as the Cowboys just signed another vet in T.Y. Hilton, on Tuesday at 105.3 The Fan if the fact that OBJ can’t play today” (due to his alleged “ticking time bomb” knee) rules out a deal.
“I wouldn’t go that far if you count the playoffs,” Jones said. “We wouldn’t be interested in Odell if he didn’t have the talent. I think it’s fair to say he’s a great receiver … he’s as you well know, he’s not ready to play. He’s a receiver who d “Anytime would fit, I think. There will be continued interest in Odell.”
Also important (click above): The parties discussed contract parameters on Monday.
DECEMBER 14 TWO KEY MOVES The Cowboys have placed Johnathan Hankins (pec strain) and Terence Steele (torn ACL and MCL) on injured reserve.
Steele is out for the season. Hankins has an optimistic chance of being activated during the playoffs.
DECEMBER 14 PATIENT OBJECTIVE? Is Odell Beckham Jr. a “prize free agent”? … for spring 2023.
The Dallas Cowboys are still considering signing OBJ now, in hopes that he could contribute to the NFL Playoffs – and perhaps with a contract offer that would secure his services for years to come as well, especially as a “ticking time bomb.” ” knee well in his past.
In fact, it seems that the Cowboys camp and Beckham talked on Monday about contract parameters in Dallas.playing anywhere this season becomes less.
But ESPN is now reporting that “many” NFL teams believe the now 30-year-old receiver will likely wait until the offseason to make his deal.
“Executives whose teams have done their homework on Beckham expect him to stay because, as one put it, ‘he will be the prize’ of the free agent receiver class,” writes ESPN. “Beckham is not expected to be ready to play football until the playoffs, and the risk of injury comes into a new team and offense for a playoff run.”
The Cowboys were aware of all this and fortified their receiver room with the signing of veteran T.Y. Hilton.
Can teams be rewarded for throwing three-time Pro Bowler OBJ on the field in the playoffs? Maybe. But OBJ’s financial rewards may only come when he proves his knee is healthy…
DECEMBER 13 BEAS TO BILLS Could the Buffalo Bills be in the process of setting up another receiver reunion? With a few liked tweets and reported airport sightings the internet rumor mill is buzzing about former Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley returning to Orchard Park.
And now it’s happening, the NFL Network is reporting that Beasley is signing with Buffalo.
WIVB-TV reported Monday night on Twitter that Beasley is back in Buffalo, with their reporter citing a tweet Beasley liked, which claims Beasley was on a flight from Baltimore to Buffalo.
Beasley, 33, a native of Little Elm, came into the NFL out of SMU with the Cowboys before moving to Buffalo. He retired from the NFL just two games into his tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in early October.
In three seasons with the Bills (2019-21), the frequent “Beas” recorded 2,348 yards and 11 touchdowns on 231 catches, and became one of Josh Allen’s favorite targets.
DECEMBER 12 MEDICAL MONDAY In addition to offensive tackle Terence Steele now out for the year with a serious injury, defensive end Johnathan Hankins is dealing with a strained calf from Sunday’s win over the Texans, coach Mike McCarthy says is “significant.”
The Cowboys believe defensive end Dorance Armstrong, wearing protective boots after Sunday’s game, could play with his sore ankle this week at Jacksonville.
Steele is a big loss, as the Cowboys now plan to shuffle the O-line, possibly with both young Josh Ball and the not-so-young Jason Peters rotating at right tackle.
McCarthy of Steele said: “A man’s rock.”
INJURY ISSUES DECEMBER 11 The Dallas Cowboys posted a last-minute 27-23 win over the Texans on Sunday, but had some losses along the way.
The most bothersome: starting right tackle Terence Steele left the game with a knee injury that the Cowboys say they are “very concerned,” with an MRI to come.
Also, defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins injured his shoulder and Jake Ferguson suffered a head/neck injury.
Steele’s injury has been the biggest problem, as the Cowboys initially replaced him with young Josh Ball but then turned to veteran Jason Peters at right tackle.
Next week at Jacksonville, Peters could be at right tackle with Tyron Smith coming back to claim the left tackle job.
Also, Trevon Diggs left briefly with a thumb injury – and is now saying he’s playing through injuries to both thumbs. And Dorance Armstrong is wearing protective boots after spraining his ankle.
DECEMBER 11 COWBOYS OPEN HOT A combination of the Texans’ offensive bullying and Tony Pollard’s skills that fit nicely into the Cowboys’ play design has resulted in Dallas getting off to a fast start over the Texans.
Pollard scored from 11 yards out to cap a nine-play, 76-yard TD drive in Week 14 here at AT&T Stadium.
DECEMBER 10 FINE Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were each fined $13,261 for their TD celebration using a Salvation Army Red Kettle against the Colts.
Money well spent, Cowboys Nation will surely agree. Correct. Zeke?
“The awareness we bring to the Salvation Army is worth it,” he said.
DECEMBER 9 WHAT THE HELL? Sean McVay is a sharp man. But even the Los Angeles Rams coach couldn’t get a proper understanding of what he was overseeing.
The coach appeared to be underwhelmed by the result, a 17-16 win over Las Vegas on Thursday night that featured all kinds of scrimmages, capped by Ram-for-a-day (or so) QB Baker Mayfield’s long run. of the day TD field drive with 1:45 to play.
“Just as we pulled it up,” McVay said, adding, “I’m still like, ‘What’s going on right now?”
“I don’t know if you could write it any better than that,” said Mayfield, waived by Carolina just a few days ago and inserted into the “Thursday Night Football” game (with an injured Matthew Stafford) just a few plays away. in “It’s damn good news, I’ll be honest with you.”
Here’s what was going on… stay tuned!
Houston Texans receiver Brandin Cooks – a trade target of the Cowboys before this year’s deadline – has a calf injury and is now expected to miss his second straight game. … this Sunday at noon in Dallas.
And … it is going towards each other starting out in the world Nico Collins also misses the game due to a leg injury.
Houston is 1-10-1 and already short on weapons against 9-3 Dallas.
DECEMBER 7 VON OUT FOR THE YEAR Von Miller, a passing star with the Buffalo Bills, who had hoped to return to action in the coming weeks, underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his knee and is now done for the season.
Head coach Sean McDermott made the announcement Wednesday at team headquarters.
Miller, a DFW native and Cowboys offseason target before signing with Buffalo, has a long-term contract with the Bills … Odell Beckham Jr., and the Dallas Cowboys are his rival there.
December 5 Texas rivals?! No, Week 14 does not pit a pair of “rivals” against each other in the Houston Texans playing the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium at noon on Sunday.
The cities love to “hate” each other. But the teams and their fans? Cowboys Nation doesn’t care much about the Texans … and neither do Texans fans right now.
The Texans only lost to the Cleveland Browns, 27-14, and not even the controversial return of Deshaun Watson to Houston is important to the audience.
The Texans have a 1-10-1 record.
The Cowboys – coming off a 54-19 win over Indy – play on Sunday Night Football as they look to improve on their 9-3 record and keep up with the Eagles. Dallas has won two straight and four of the past five and some weirdos have the Cowboys as the favorite by 17 points in this one.
The Cowboys now have a habit of scoring 30-plus. The Texans have not exceeded 17 points in their last six games. So…place your bets!
DECEMBER 4 JIMMY G CARTED OFF The 49ers say QB Jimmy Garoppolo is questionable to return for the game against the Dolphins due to injury. Brock Purdy now in at QB. And yes…
This is a potential balance of power shift in the NFC … for a team like the Seahawks in the West and teams like the Dallas Cowboys across the board.
Update: After San Francisco’s 33-17 win, coach Kyle Shanahan said Garoppolo will need season-ending foot surgery.
DECEMBER 4 TWO NEW LOOKS Sunday night the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will unveil a new look for their iconic boots with a red, white and blue accent as part of the team’s “Salute to Service” weekend… which you can read more about here as that Dallas is set to take on Indianapolis here at AT&T Stadium.
But besides, Christmas is coming, and the Cowboys are scheduled to host the Eagles on Christmas Eve…
So Cowboys Cheerleaders need to dress appropriately, and they will, because they’re showing off their special holiday-themed outfits.
DECEMBER 3: DEION DECISION Deion Sanders has officially announced that he will be Colorado’s next head coach.
Sanders went 27-5 over three seasons at Jackson St. and he got some of the best recruits in the nation.
The announcement came just after Sanders led Jackson State to its second straight SWAC title.
Jackson State defeated Southern 43-24 in the title game, capping the school’s first undefeated season.
“There were several highly qualified and impressive candidates interested in becoming Colorado’s next football coach, but they lacked the pedigree, knowledge, and ability to connect with student-athletes like Deion Sanders,” Colorado athletic director . Rick George said in the statement. “Coach Prime will not only energize our fans, I am confident that he will lead our program back to national prominence while leading a high quality and high character team.”
Sanders, 55, played 14 seasons in the NFL, five of which he spent with the Cowboys. During his time in Dallas, he compiled 159 tackles, 14 interceptions, and two touchdowns. Sanders was a member of the Cowboys’ 1995 championship squad that defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
Recruiting of staff and players to Colorado has already begun.
DECEMBER 2 ANTONIO BROWN TROUBLE Antonio Brown reports the idea of returning to the NFL, sometimes praising the Dallas Cowboys as his employer.
That’s not going to happen. Instead, Brown faces real-life problems as he faces legal action again after a recent alleged domestic incident that led to an arrest warrant being issued for the former NFL standout.
Brown, 34, is reportedly wanted by police for a battery charge stemming from an incident earlier this week involving the mother of four of Brown’s six children at his south Tampa home.
On Thursday night, NBC News reported that Tampa police are still trying to arrest Brown after multiple attempts have been made outside his home. The department told NBC that Brown is “not communicating with police officers.”
WFTS-TV Tampa reported that officers were at Brown’s home for more than an hour, and used a megaphone to call to him from his front door. A Tampa police statement shows Brown and a woman were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical earlier this week, with Brown allegedly saying “if she came into the house, he would shoot her in front of the police,” according to court documents.
DEC 1 BYE, OBJ It is already known that the Los Angeles Rams were not in the running to re-sign Odell Beckham Jr. But now there is physical evidence…
The Associated Press reveals that the former locker at team Headquarters that was used by the free agent wide receiver and was being saved for …
“The locker that has Odell Beckham Jr.’s name on it at the Rams training complex from last season is empty again,” Beacham said. msgid “They are no longer saving the OBJ location.”
OBJ, starting today, is embarking on a suitors tour with a Thursday visit with the Giants, a Friday visit with the Bills and a Monday visit with the Cowboys on tap.
NOVEMBER 29 NOW, OBJ! Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan concerns the team’s pursuit of Odell Beckham Jr.
“This year must be a big part of it,” Jones said. “It’s regular-season games and the playoffs, so in my mind, we have almost the whole show ahead. We had to have a situation where he can contribute a lot now.”
Now, let’s make sure we interpret that correctly: Part of what Jones seems to be saying is that Dallas “needs a healthy QB … and because he’s spent almost a year rehabbing his knee, there are questions long there
But if those questions are answered around next Monday when Beckham is scheduled to visit The Star?
Jones also pointed out that the OBJ airline incident has not affected the team’s “full forward interest” (coach Mike McCarthy’s words) in the star receiver.
“Very serious,” Jones said as he described his phone call with Beckham. “Very competitive. Feel confident. Feels good about himself. We think he can come very well for us.”
Jones also said of the airport incident, “Judgment, it’s not a problem to carry with him. It’s for many. It’s not for him.”
So … if he passes the medical exams and the other obstacles are dealt with (money, other bidders)?
“We have to be this year,” said Jones. “It is very important. This year must be a big one for her.”
November 28 OBJ FLIGHT-LESS Odell Beckham Jr., early on Sunday, tweeted about a remarkable experience without being specific,
“Funny hour,” he said about … something.
Maybe this RUMOR / VIDEO is what he’s talking about… Did Cops take OBJ off the plane?
The Dallas Cowboys, one of the suitors of the star free agent, have often argued that OBJ’s “diva” reputation is unfounded.
Let’s see what the airport police have to say about that…
So, the flight crew thought he was sick because they couldn’t wake him up to fasten his seat belt. He refused to leave the plane when asked. …until the police came.
Oh, and by the way, no, according to the passenger with the video, this incident did not happen at DFW Airport, as some have claimed. It is alleged that passengers were on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles and “the plane was taxiing down the runway but we (returned) back to the gate due to a problem”…
TARGET MEETINGS NOVEMBER 25 ARRANGEMENTS The Dallas Cowboys have worked their way into the headlines regarding free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. through his planned visit to them. Well, and with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, after revealing that he had a “good visit” on the phone with OBJ.
But there are still plenty of teams on Beckham’s list as he prepares to begin his free agent visits. … And yes, the Cowboys have company.
That’s the word via CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, who reports Friday that Beckham has confirmed plans to visit three suitors … and do so in this order …
It is our understanding that the visit to Dallas is scheduled for Monday, December 5th.
Anderson also reports that Beckham, who has been rehabbing a knee injury, is also in talks with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. It is also believed that the San Francisco 49ers could be in contention for the services of the two-time All-Pro receiver, who is looking for a long-term “home” (and contract), with speculation that he could be questioned. for a $20 million APY.
The Bills’ recruitment of OBJ has been shared by his Rams Super Bowl teammate Von Miller, with Miller now in the news as he deals with his own knee injury from the Thanksgiving win at Detroit.
SOC NOVEMBER 24 OBJECTIVE ROAD DATE It’s a date!
The Cowboys and Giants are set to host a visit with Odell Beckham Jr., but we already knew that. Now comes the football progress: Beckham will visit with the Cowboys on Monday, December 5, according to Jay Glazer.
The Giants haven’t set a date yet, it seems, but they’re on Beckham’s wish list. The Bills, Niners and Chiefs might be here too … although those organizations aren’t as vocal about all of this as Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones and his franchise have been.
Beckham is thought to be healthy after rehabbing his knee and is reportedly seeking a long-term deal around $20 million APY, all part of his search, as he says, for “home.”
And in DFW? The housing search is underway for December 5.
NOV 23 TP WINS AWARD This much is beyond doubt: Tony Pollard may be the most fearsome weapon in the Cowboys offense, and he’s being recognized this week. He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his impressive contributions to Dallas’ 40-3 win at Minnesota.
TP numbers? He had a career-high 189 scrimmage yards (109 receiving, 80 rushing) and two TDs on Sunday.
Our friend at PFF, Marcus Mosher, writes: “Tony Pollard’s breakout season is upon us. He suddenly turned into one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL, giving a player who arguably is the best in the league at the moment.”
Over the past four games, the Cowboys have scored 141 points per game and averaged 412.8 yards of offense. That’s better than they were a year ago when they were the No. 1 ranked offense. 1 by the NFL.
That has to do with the return of Dak Prescott, of course. But how do the Cowboys prepare to host the Giants on Thanksgiving in a battle of two 7-3 NFC East teams? Yes, it has a lot to do with Tony Pollard too.
NOVEMBER 22 BRAIDER IN TEXAS THE TROUBLE? The Texas State Securities Board has reportedly expanded its investigation into the operations and bankruptcy of cryptocurrency platform FTX to now include the activities of celebrities such as the NFL’s Tom Brady and the NBA’s Stephen Curry.
Bloomberg News first reported the latest in the investigation, which is looking into potential securities law violations.
“Anyone giving investment advice in Texas must generally be registered and generally required to truthfully disclose all known material facts,” the Texas State Securities Board said via The Texas Tribune. “In Texas, there is no justice system or other regulations for celebrities.”
This comes on the heels of news of a class action lawsuit being filed that names Curry and Brady and other celebrities and claims they, among others, “controlled, promoted, aided and abetted” in the alleged scheme to “strongly market” FTX – which the filing describes as “truly a house of cards” and a “Ponzi scheme.”
November 21 RUSSELL WILSON ANOTHER HERSCHEL After all the dust settled and the onion skins were peeled off, the NFL world came to a universal agreement: There would never be another trade like the Herschel Walker deal, so smart that the Cowboys proved that it was the basis of a three-time Super Bowl champ.
Is “never” happening again in Seattle?
The 1989 trade of Walker — considered the biggest heist in football history — netted the Cowboys a multiple premium round pick for the star running back. Among the players drafted with the picks received from Minnesota: Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Darren Woodson and Kevin Smith.
And now? The Denver Broncos, like the Vikings, thought they were “one star away.” The Seahawks obliged, unloading quarterback Russell Wilson for two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and three veteran players.
How is that looking for the Broncos? Wilson, as our guy (and former Seahawks guard) Corbin K. Smith writes, “is playing the worst football of his career in the Mile High City, as he’s completed less than 60 percent of his passes and he threw just seven touchdown passes in. 10 starts as Denver is disappointing with a 3-7 record and currently sits in last place in the AFC West.”
And how is Seattle doing with Geno Smith repeating at QB? He is, Smith wrote, “a viable MVP candidate at the helm of a 6-4 upstart, NFC West-leading squad.”
And that doesn’t even take into account all the guys and picks and … Well, dig into Corbin’s in-depth look at how “The Herschel Heist” was ever going to happen again … except maybe it just did.
NOVEMBER 20 TP NO. 1? Tony Pollard matters. Ezekiel Elliott matters. As Dallas prepares for today’s Cowboys clash with the Vikings, the insistence remains that both running backs are important, with a nod forever to the notion that “As Zeke goes, so go the Cowboys.” ‘
But NFL Network is suggesting a new wrinkle for Week 11, the idea that Zeke — “light years ahead” of where he was after missing two games with a sprained knee — will be “smoothed back” into the lineup. , by Pollard. “to get more involved,” it seems, than the knee-braced Elliott.
Our sweet suggestion: A game script, at least as much as any pregame concepts, is the determining factor in who does what.
18 INJURY ISSUES Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Friday morning that DeMarcus Lawrence (feet, knee) will be limited in his work today here at The Star.
But, he said, “I have every intention of him playing” in Sunday’s game at the Vikings.
Lawrence, who has a history of playing through serious injuries, is indeed willing to do it again.
“Right knee hurt worse than the legs,” he said. “I’m dealing with so much right now. Trying to stay focused on the task at hand.”
But … you play on Sunday?
Ezekiel Elliott (knee) and Anthony Barr are also on track to return to the field this weekend.
McCarthy on Zeke: “I expect him to go.”
McCarthy on Barr: “He’s on his way to play on Sunday.”
NOVEMBER 17 NEW GUYS AT WORK The Cowboys added two “name” players to their roster through the practice squad, and on Thursday the new guys – defensive end Takk McKinley and receiver Antonio Callaway – took the field here at The Star .
Callaway, the former Browns starter, is wearing No. 14.
Takk, a former first-round pick with the Falcons, is No. 59.
NOVEMBER 16 Chicago Wants Taco The Chicago Bears have signed Taco Charlton off the New Orleans Saints practice squad.
The former Cowboy, a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft taken by Dallas, played two seasons before being cut. Charlton’s time with the Cowboys was disappointing, with just four sacks in 27 games.
His new deal with the Bears reunites him with head coach Matt Eberflus, a former Cowboys coach when Charlton was drafted.
NOVEMBER 16 TAKK IN The Dallas Cowboys have made another move. The Cowboys signed defensive end Takk McKinley to the practice squad after hosting him for a workout over the summer.
McKinley is a former first round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft taken by the Atlanta Falcons under then coach Dan Quinn. McKinley played four seasons in Atlanta before playing his most recent two with the Browns and Rams.
The move comes on the heels of Tuesday’s signing of another “name” player looking for a reboot as former Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway joined the club via the practice squad.
CENTER TRIALS NOVEMBER 15 The Cowboys have moved rookie UDFA center Alex Lindstrom to (practice squad) IR and now need help, a source tells CowboysSI.com, with three prospects getting tryouts here inside the Star.
Beau Benzschawel played for Wisconsin and went undrafted in 2019.
Brock Hoffman is a rookie UDFA from Virginia Tech.
Arizona drafted Michal Menet in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Penn State.
Dallas’ starting center continues with Tyler Biadasz, while Lindstrom has been working as a backup.
NO 15 ROCK-BOTTOM RAMS The Los Angeles Rams will be without their top offensive weapon for at least four weeks after placing star wide receiver Cooper Kupp on injured reserve, Rams Sean McVay announced.
Kupp was injured during the Rams’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday with a high ankle sprain he suffered late in the game.
Kupp will miss at least four weeks and undergo tightrope surgery to repair the injury. Recovery from tightrope surgery is typically five to six weeks, according to reports.
McVay did not rule Kupp out for the season.
Kupp is the Rams’ overwhelming leader in most receiving stats, and currently ranks second in the NFL in receptions (75), fifth in targets (98), fifth in yards (812) and fifth place in contact (6).
Read more about “the rock-bottom Rams” slipping away from contention in the NFC where the 6-3 Dallas Cowboys are trying to keep up.
NOV 13 DALLAS TIED 7-ALL Cowboys at Packers was mostly about Dallas’ ability to get close to the goal line … but also about scoring once in the first quarter and a half.
CeeDee Lamb has a TD catch from QB Dak Prescott as the receiver came swinging out of the backfield … but with a change for Dallas to go up 14-0, Prescott tossed an end zone interception.
And with 4:54 left in the first half at Lambeau Field, Aaron Rodgers answered with a deep TD pass to rookie Christian Watson to tie the score at 7-all.
NOVEMBER 12 BOCA AND TILLERY? The Los Angeles Chargers are waiving former first-round defensive tackle Jerry Tillery — and the Dallas Cowboys, always looking to shore up a good defense (although they have some challenges as they prepare for Sunday at Green Bay) piece of the action.
But there is a problem – the problem of being too good.
The 6-6, 295-pound Tillery fell out of favor with the Chargers coaching staff this year as he recorded just eight snaps before being waived on Friday. So the 2019 NFL first round pick will get a fresh start somewhere…
But the way the waiver order works, the worst teams get the first claims. With Dallas – with a 6-2 record – going their way to the bottom of the team with a shot at it.
That process can start as early as next week, and teams like the one-win Texans seem like the most logical winners coming here.
Taken 28th overall in 2019, Tillery, 26, was in his fourth season with the Chargers after starting 29 of 54 games, with 106 tackles and 10.5 sacks.
NOVEMBER 2 TRIAL SCOOP The Cowboys held 10 practices at The Star in Frisco on Wednesday and we have the list…

NOVEMBER 1 SUSPENDED RIDLEY … TRADE?! Calvin Ridley’s weird story just keeps getting a little weirder.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, who are in dire need of difference makers, about a year ago explored the idea of trading for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
But there were a few problems along the way.
Initially, the talented receiver left Atlanta citing mental health reasons; apparently he was considering retirement.
Then, the Falcons engineered a trade for him to the Eagles – but voluntarily pulled out of the deal because the Falcons knew Ridley was about to receive a one-year suspension for betting on NFL games.
The Falcons did so in good faith. And now they do something else: He is trading with Jags who have long been interested in what the NFL Network terms “complicated deal” that could net in the end Atlanta picks second and fifth round.
NOV 1 WR DEAL Put this in the category of “Do Something” moves that don’t make a lot of sense – or, at least, wouldn’t make sense in Dallas.
The Bears traded a second-round pick for a receiver in Chase Claypool who has some mediocre production (including one TD catch this year and zero catches on two targets for the Steelers last week) but was somewhat on Dallas’ level. radar…
But no. Not for a second round pick. … which could be entirely overpriced for Dallas to consider in conversations with Brandin Cooks, a much more proven individual than Claypool.
NOVEMBER 1 CHUBB TO MIAMI Bradley Chubb is being traded to the AFC East as the Dolphins re-enter their Buffalo Bills Arms Race. Full story here.
NOV 1 TJ TO MINNY TJ Hockenson is about to see a lot of the Cowboys. His Lions just played in Dallas … and now, later this month, his Vikings – where the tight end was just traded – will see the Cowboys again. Full story here.
NOV 1 RO COST The Cowboys continue to be linked to pass-rush trade rumors (see Bradley Chubb) … not that we quite see the logic.
But just in case, it is instructive to know the price.
We know it because the Los Angeles Rams offer for Panthers edge Brian Burns, via. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, consisting of two first-round picks.
The Panthers apparently declined the Rams’ offer of those two first-rounders because they would come in 2024 and 2025; that’s all the Rams have.
But it could also show how much Carolina doesn’t want to lose their primary sack artist.
And it could indicate how likely it is that Dallas travels this path.
NOVEMBER 1 JOKER Kareem Hunt had just entered Cleveland’s 32-13 win over Cincinnati on “Monday Night Football” and it was Halloween. So it made perfect sense that he would celebrate his way.
“I mean, I’m down for whatever, man,” Hunt said, per NFL.com. “I’m a football player and this is a business. So I’m ready to do whatever they decide with me.”
“It’s go somewhere else or here, it doesn’t matter. I love the game of football,” said Hunt, who must also love being “The Joker” on Halloween, since he did his post-match interview in. A mask related to Batman.
OCTOBER TO NFC EAST? The Philadelphia Eagles are rumored to be interested in Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt. It is suggested that the Browns move the former NFL rushing camp and their backup running back for a possible fourth-round pick, and that Hunt serve in Philly as a backup to Miles Sanders.
NFL insider Jay Glazer noted that he could see the Eagles trading for a running back, which lends credence — if not logic — to the rumor. Assuming part of the reason for Hunt’s unhappiness in Cleveland is that he is what starter Nick Chubb is … why would he be happy as Sanders’ backup?
Say this about Philly, though: at 7-0, the roster was built as a result of a lot of right moves.
October 31 ROQUAN TRADE ‘NOT A SHAME’ The Dallas Cowboys lost 49-29 to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, which star quarterback Roquan Smith found “disgraceful.”
And now Smith is being traded to the Baltimore Ravens. … in doing so jumps from a 3-5 NFC loser to a 5-3 AFC winner.
The Bears reportedly get a second-rounder and a fifth-rounder as the Ravens will be working on a long-term extension for the young talent.
OCTOBER 31 BRANDIN COOKS RELATIONSHIP In our two recent conversations with Texans sources, the organization continues to play down the idea of trading receiver Brandin Cooks.
And there are compelling reasons to move him, as 1) we believe Houston would ask for a second-round pick in return and 2) he has an $18 million price tag locked in for 2023.
But would it help Dallas or another controversial team? Undoubtedly, the vet managed to “become outstanding” in Houston (in seven starts this year the 29-year-old has 32 catches for 354 yards and one touchdown) despite shaky QB play.
He’s a perennial 1,000-yard rusher and now has his name up in two point averages, in Dallas and New York. Are the Cowboys really interested in spending what there is to do here?
OCTOBER 31 STEPHEN JONES WITH US IN PROGRESS? Despite Jerry Jones’ “itch” and “risky” attitude, CEO Stephen Jones said the Cowboys are “comfortable” in the world.
But Stephen then added: “And then there are some guys who don’t belong to anyone out there.”
Stephen’s quote, and our “who” list, is here.
OCTOBER 31 OCTOBER MAKE A DEADLINE? The Dallas Cowboys and the rest of the NFL have a trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon … and CowboysSI.com’s one-on-one with Jerry Jones leaves our Mike Fisher believing “The Itch.”
Fish writes: “Jerry Jones has ‘the itch.”
“My 32 years of chronicling the Jones era in Dallas don’t come with guarantees about what the Cowboys will do between now and Tuesday’s deadline. The “who”? The “what”? The openly discussed wide receiver”?
“Those dances cannot be danced alone; Jerry needs willing partners – and Stephen Jones and Will McClay, most directly involved.
“But I can say, after a couple of big postgame media sessions and then a festive elevator ride on the way to the AT&T Jones Stadium series:
“Jerry Jones wants an opportunity where he can use his confidence in his “feelings and guts and instincts and willingness to go out there and take that risk.”
October 31 NAMED IN NEW ZEALAND Amid numerous reports that the Patriots are fielding calls for multiple players, names like right tackle Isaiah Wynn, running back Damien Harris and safety Jabril Peppers have been mentioned among the latest rumors. the Patriots. It’s also being reported that New England has recently received inquiries about all of the Pats vet wide receivers, including Jakobi Meyers, DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.
OCT 31: 10 NAMES Sunday was a big day for rumors, with the Buffalo Bills very much in the news. The Buffalo News created a top 10 list, and here are our answers as they relate to the Bills and beyond…
1) Rams running back Cam Akers. Sources in LA told us the two parties are “done” with each other. Problem: Akers doesn’t seem to have much juice, which makes him less dangerous than the top two backs on Buffalo’s roster.
2) Texans receiver Brandin Cooks. Cooks is an excellent weapon, but the Texans, according to a source, would only listen if offered a second-round pick. That, along with Cooks’ 2023 salary of $18 million, makes this a non-starter.
3) Panthers guard Austin Corbett. He is involved with the Bills coaching staff and the Panthers are in fire sale mode. (Although they insist they are not.)
4) Panthers offensive lineman Cam Erving. Erving is a former Cowboy and, with all due respect, he’s just a man.
5) Lions safety DeShon Elliott. Based on his time with the Lions – with a defense that seems to give up 35 points at the drop of a hat – this isn’t very appealing.
6) Commanders running back Antonio Gibson. The front office in Washington is on record as refusing to try to deal with Gibson. (We also put Cleveland’s Kareem Hunt into this category — as a name to explore, at least.)
7) Falcons center Matt Hennessy. A deep piece for the Bills? Definitely. But keep in mind that the Falcons are – in a great spot – entering Week 8 – in first place in the NFC South … which means they have no reason to be sellers.
8) Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy. A 2020 first-round draft pick, Jeudy would probably love to get out of Denver’s mess. The Broncos, however, would be wise to ask for an exorbitant trade price here.
There is some Cowboys related gossip here but we say more smoke than fire.
By the way, and this goes for Cooks and the Steelers’ Chase Claypool and maybe free agent Odell Beckham Jr., too: I wonder if the Bills’ front office is as obsessed with the idea of adding Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis as it is clear that the community?
9) Bears running back David Montgomery. He is in the last year of his rookie contract, so this would be a rental. Do the Bills need to add a “power back”?
10) 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore. The 49ers see themselves as contenders, not “sellers” – as evidenced by their willingness to pay a price for Christian McCaffrey that the Bills wouldn’t meet.
OCTOBER 30 AIKMAN NEEDED A member of the Dallas Cowboys’ “family” is trying to help with his opinion – and his name happens to be “Troy Aikman.”
“In today’s NFL you better have an offense if you’re going to win games,” Aikman told TMZ when asked if his old team should look to add a wide receiver. “The way you are evil is that you have weapons, and you need to have more than one or two.”
Aikman contemporary Michael Irvin has a different opinion, free agent signing Odell Beckham Jr.?
That’s the guy Irvin pinpointed, it seems. Aikman doesn’t have a name; he just has an educated opinion. A receiver trade, Aikman said, would certainly help them.
Worth noting: Aikman issued these comments about Dallas “needing some offense” before the Cowboys beat the Bears 49-29 to move to 6-2 in the bye.
October 26 SINGLE INSTALLATIONS? We have to mention that Dallas’ deal for Johnathan Hankins came before the Eagles’ trade for Robert Quinn. So no, Dallas did not “respond” to the “arms race” there. But that doesn’t mean some don’t want a different answer, especially with rumors swirling that Philly may be in the hunt for Saints superstar running back Alvin Kamara.
