How many Dallas Cowboys players are in the NFL Hall of Fame?

The Dallas Cowboys officially recognize 20 former players/coaches and collaborators as members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame following their last three additions in 2021. That year Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris joined former head coach Jimmy Johnson as HOF inductees .

The Cowboys, one of the most highly regarded franchises in NFL history, has a total of 29 Hall of Famers who have been a part of their organization for at least one year.

However, legends like Bill Parcells, Terrell Owens, Mike Ditka and Herb Adderley haven’t played or coached long enough to be fully recognized with the NFL team that has the most fans.

Bob Lilly was the first player drafted by the Cowboys in 1961 and the franchise’s first player inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. Schramm is considered the architect of the Cowboys’ success. Better known as ‘Tex’, he spent 29 seasons as President and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys. During that period, the franchise won two Super Bowls (VI, XII). An innovator, he was instrumental in creating the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the first of its kind in professional football.

Tony Dorsett, Running Back (1977-1987)

Dorsett won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1977. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 1981, a second-team All-Pro in 1982 and ’83, and earned a Super Bowl (XII) ring.

Randy White. Defensive Line/Linebacker (1975-1988)

White was named to both the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and the 1980s All-Time Team. He was named a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl in nine consecutive seasons (1977-1985). His only Super Bowl win (XII) led him to win Super Bowl MVP.

Mel Renfro, Defensive Back (1964-1977)

Mel Renfro started his career with 10 consecutive Pro Bowls. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 1969 when he led the league in interceptions (10). He won two Super Bowls as a Cowboy (VI, XII).

Troy Alkman, Quarterback (1989-2000)

Aikman is one of the most decorated QBs with three Super Bowl rings (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX). He won Super Bowl MVP once (XXVIII) and went to six consecutive Pro Bowls (1991-1996).

Rayfield Wright, Offensive Line (1967-1979)

Inducted in 2006

A member of the 1970s All-Pro team, Wright was named first-team All-Pro in three consecutive seasons between 1971-1973. Wright was named to the Pro Bowl each of those six seasons. He won two Super Bowl rings (VI, XII).

Michael Irvin, Wide Receiver (1988-1999)

Inducted in 2007

Named to the All-Decade Team of the 1990s, Irvin was the receiving yards leader and a first-team All-Pro in 1991. Irvin has been part of three Super Bowl-winning teams (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX).

Bob Hayes, Split End/Wide Receiver (1965-1974)

Inducted in 2009

Hayes is the only person in history to win an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring. He twice led the league in receiving touchdowns, was selected first-team All-Pro twice and went to three Pro Bowls.

Emmitt Smith, Running Back (1990-2002)

Smith had a much-decorated career: 1993 NFL MVP, 1990s Team of the 1990s, NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, four first-team All-Pro selections, four-time league leader, three Super Bowls ( XXVII, XXVIII, XXXX) and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, just to name a few.

Deion Sanders, Defensive Back (1995-1999)

Sanders won one of his Super Bowls (XXX), was named a first-team All-Pro three times and made the Pro Bowl four times while wearing the Cowboys’ uniform. Additionally, he was named to both the 1990s Team of the Decade and the 100th Anniversary Team.

Larry Allen, Offensive Line (1994-2005)

Allen was selected as a first-team All-Pro at guard seven straight years (1995-2001). Allen was also selected to the 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and All-Decade Teams of the 1990s and 2000s. In addition, he won one Super Bowl (XXX).

Charles Haley, Defensive End/Linebacker (1992-1996)

Haley was selected as a one-time first-team All-Pro with the Cowboys and won three of his five Super Bowl rings in Dallas (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX).

Jerry Jones, Owner/President/General Manager (1989-present)

In five years, the Cowboys won their first Super Bowl under Jones (XXVII), before adding two more over the next three years (XXVIII, XXX). He was the first owner to win three Super Bowls in his first seven years of ownership of an NFL franchise.

Jimmy Johnson, Coach (1989-1993)

Jimmy Johnson was the Cowboys’ head coach for just five seasons. In that span, the Cowboys won the Super Bowl twice (XXVII, XXVIII) and won 36 games in their last three years. He won the AP NFL Coach of the Year in 1990.

Drew Pearson, Wide Receiver (1973-1983)

Drew was a member of the NFL team of the 1970s and led the league in receiving yards in 1977. He was selected as a first-team All-Pro three times, won a Super Bowl (XII) and went to three Pro Bowls.
