Let’s get this out of the way first: I was angry, angry, angry last week in my Super Wild Card Weekend picks. Bad.
It’s the Los Angeles Chargers who lose a 27-0 lead.
It’s Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins throwing a 3-yard pass at the fourth and seventh opponents.
But I like to think of myself as the guy with the glass half full, so I’m looking at the positives from the first round of the NFL playoffs. I immediately went 3-3 and my best bets on FrontPageBets were 12-9.
I mean, Maher finally did PAT, right? So, this is it.
I don’t feel any more confident in four division round games this week as the spreads are enough to guess second, third and fourth. One thing is for sure, there are many points on the board.
So, as far as I’ve looked at the numbers, it comes down to eye and bowel tests.
We pick favorites to win right away, but the only team I have my eye on is the San Francisco 49ers, who are 12-6 against the spread this year, including 8-1 as home favourites.
The 49ers are 9-2 ATS in 11 straight games.
As for the other three games, the combined record of all the underdogs against the spread – Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals – is 35-18. That’s 66%.
We hope that after this weekend the glass still has something in it.
