CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay State University’s cheer and dance teams recently joined the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships, January 13-15 at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Heading into the team results, Austin Peay’s mascot “Governor Peay” placed second in the Open Mascot Division, behind Delaware’s mascot “YoUDee” and Blue Hen’s mascot “Baby Blue.”
The Governors Cheer team placed fourth in the Small Coed Division I competition, finishing behind Southeast Louisiana and topping Belmont and Providence College in the six-team finals.
For over 35 years, UCA & The UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship marked the end of the season for cheerleaders and dancers across the country.
It is the country’s most prestigious national championship and the perfect opportunity for cheerleading and dance teams to come together and celebrate each other at the Walt Disney World Resort.
