JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars are in first place.
And they will play for a spot in the postseason in Week 18.
The Jaguars (7-8), winners of three straight and five of their last seven, moved into first place in the AFC South on Saturday when the Tennessee Titans (7-8) lost to the Houston Texans, 19-14, in a Week 16- game in Nashville, Tenn.
The Titans and Jaguars will play in Week 18 of the regular season finale at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville on Jan. 7 or 8. The time and date of the match has not yet been decided. The game will decide the AFC South title.
The Jaguars beat the New York Jets, 19-3, last Thursday. The Titans have lost their last five games, including a 36-22 loss to the Jaguars in Week 14.
The Jaguars will play in Houston in Week 17 and the Titans will host the Dallas Cowboys. But regardless of the outcome of these games, Week 18 will decide the division.
If the Jaguars and Titans finish tied for first place and the Jaguars win the Finals, the Jaguars will win the South based on a playoff run this season. If the teams tied for first and the Titans win the final, the Titans would win the South based on a better division record.
