Surely the Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since today’s National Football League players were embryos. But as we head into another season of disappointedly watching other people’s teams go to the big game, there’s one thing we can be sure of – Cowboys fans are the hottest of them all. And it’s backed by science.
Seriously, a new study found that 20% of NFL fans say Dallas Cowboys supporters are the sexiest in the entire league. Chicago Bears supporters came in second with less than 7% of respondents calling them the most beautiful. Miami Dolphins nation is third, just a couple of percentage points behind at 6.7%.

Why would anyone do this and assess the fan’s attractiveness?
Fintan Costello, CEO of BonusFinder.com, which conducted the survey of more than 1,000 NFL fans from the 32 franchises, explained that it’s all about good-natured competition.
“Rivalries make the NFL such an interesting spectacle, on and off the field,” he says. “Of course we know there are some fine-tuned, great athletes playing the sport, but it’s the fans who deserve some of the love.”
It’s not the weirdest NFL-adjacent competition. Las Vegas is taking Super Bowl bets on everything from what players will cry during the national anthem to what color of Gatorade will be poured on the head of the winning coach.
BonusFinder also asked participants for their opinions on the sexiest players. Tom Brady easily topped that list.
But back to the sexiest fans. Costello says, referring to the Dallas Cowboys fans’ hands-off victory, “there’s obviously a lot of admiration for the fan base in that particular part of Texas.”
The sexiness in and around the Dallas Cowboys is no accident.
As Sarah Hepola lays out in her exemplary podcast America’s Girls, an eight-part series on the history of the Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleaders, the franchise’s sex appeal was intensely manufactured in the late 1970s, and that image—for better or worse—endures.
“Cowboy cheerleaders brought sex and glamor into the gladiatorial arena of modern sports,” Hepola says in one episode. “They launched a wave of imitations across the NFL. Dallas became synonymous with their look.”
The podcast is good in part because it’s all audio, and it gives ex-cheerleaders actual voices. And a woman with a voice is very attractive.
