Partner city Goodyear, Cardinals celebrate grant

The city’s festivities will begin on Saturday, January 28. Goodyear is the recipient of the NFL Greening Grant, which aims to promote sustainability in the community.
The project – which focuses on low water – will begin at Loma Linda Park at 9 a.m., starting with a dance performance by Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders and former Cardinals player Anthony Clement. Mayor Joe Pizzillo, along with representatives from NFL Green, the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, the Arizona Cardinals and Verizon will speak at the event.
Game On block party in the mix

There will be plenty of activities for children, complete with football-themed inflatables and a photo booth. There will be a beer garden, food trucks, lawn games and outdoor screens playing soccer.
The halftime show will include marching bands and cheer squads.
City teams up with local restaurants

Each of the participating restaurants has a life-size football cutout. To enter the competition, people can visit one of the participating restaurants before February 12 and post a picture with the football player on Facebook with the hashtag #GameOnGoodyear and follow the city’s Facebook page @cityofgoodyear.

Kickoff concert planned in Avondale
Red Bottomz, a bar in Avondale, will be hosting a Super Bowl kickoff show featuring several artists on Friday, February 10, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $30 in advance and $40 at the door.
