What does it take to be a cheer flyer? The flyer or top is the person who is in the air during a stunt. This is the person who is commonly the main target of the stunt. The flyers must stay tight throughout the entire stunt. The flyer must control his weight by squeezing everything from his thighs to his shoulders.

While cheerleading requires different physical skills and strengths required for stunts, jumps or falls, there is so much self-development that allows athletes to gain practical skills in life. These skills include discipline, teamwork and goal setting, all while instilling confidence.

What skills do you need to be a cheerleader? The most important cheerleading skills are cheering, jumping, tumbles, acrobatics (building pyramids), and dancing. These are the fundamental techniques that shape every aspect of cheerleading. To master these skills, it is especially important to possess and develop balance, strength, flexibility and endurance.
