Cumberland Valley Cheerleading Finishes 3rd in 2023 PIAA…

The Cumberland Valley cheerleaders won their 13th straight District 3 title on Saturday.

A Sacred Heart University student founded Connecticut’s first all-disability cheerleading team.

Cumberland Valley’s cheerleading squad finished third overall among Class 3A small teams at the PIAA Championships Saturday afternoon at the Giant Center.

Finishing first in Group B heading into Friday’s preliminary round, the Eagles posted a final score of 91.7667 to place third behind champion Garnet Valley (94.5667) and runner-up South Fayette (94.3667).

CV, which moved from the major division to the minor division this season, won its 13th straight District 3 title in December. The Eagles, aiming for their sixth PIAA title, also finished 12th at the Universal Cheerleaders Association regional in Allentown on Dec. 3.

They qualified for the UCA nationals scheduled for 10-12. February in Orlando, Florida.

Joining Garnet Valley on Saturday with state championship appearances were Butler (Co-Ed), Hempfield Area (Class 3A Large Varsity), Neshannock (2A Large Varsity) and Bishop McCourt (2A Small Varsity).
