The best in cheer was on display Friday during the preliminary round of the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships in Hershey.
One hundred and seventeen cheer squads from Pennsylvania, nine from the Lehigh Valley, converged on the Giant Center competing for trophies, medals and bragging rights.
Each squad must complete their routine in 2 minutes and 30 seconds on a 54-by-42-foot surface. All routines must include a cheer, either with or without music. The PIAA awards the champion and runners-up with trophies in each division.
