“We’re very excited to have all seven teams in the conference cheerleading again this year,” said Edwardsville Head Cheerleading Coach Anna Schuetzenhofer. “In addition to their first-place finish, Edwardsville named Evie Tyrrell and Sanaa Johnson All-Conference Athletes for their team.”

The Edwardsville Varsity Tigers are undefeated in the major division so far this season, finishing first at the Lincoln-Way East, Lockport and Oak Forest Invitationals. EHS held the annual ICCA Invitational on December 18, where they failed to place but qualified for the ICCA Championships.

Schuetzenhofer said the varsity and junior varsity cheer teams will travel to Springfield this weekend to compete in the ICCA championships. This will be followed by the IHSA postseason sections on January 28th at O’Fallon Township High School for the varsity.

The Tigers must place in the top five teams at the Sectionals to qualify for the State Finals on February 3-4.

“Congratulations to our celebration teams and good luck for the remainder of the season,” said Schützenhofer.
