JACKSONVILLE – The situation surrounding this one is mysterious.
That’s the case if you’re watching the Jaguars (7-8) from the outside. Inside, their performance in Week 17 against the Houston Texans (2-12-1) at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Sunday could not be more ordinary.
“It’s full up front,” Head Coach Doug Pederson said this week, and that’s how the Jaguars and Pederson handled it Sunday.
They will play to win, which means playing all healthy players — a different approach than the Tennessee Titans, who rested multiple players in an early-season loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Nashville, Tenn., Thursday.
The Titans have a problem with the Jaguars not because they are on a six-game losing streak, but because the Jaguars play Tennessee (7-9) in the regular season at TIAA Bank Field in Week 18 – a game that will decide the AFC South title.
The winner-take-all stakes had many speculating about the Jaguars resting players against the Texans. Pederson made it clear that’s not his way because, as he said this week, “no games are meaningless – never, ever, ever, ever.”
So, it’s full steam ahead to beat the Texans on Sunday.
