The owner of a Brentwood bakery makes sure that a group of local cheerleaders can make it to a national tournament in Florida.
The Brentwood High School varsity cheerleading team qualified for the Universal Cheerleading Association National Competition, but needed help paying the bills to get there.
Campbell’s Bakery owner Gregory Napolitano saw the News 12 story about the team’s fundraising efforts and felt the need to help.
“This is something really special: I wanted the girls to come down and have a good time,” Napolitano said.
Brentwood varsity cheerleading coach Tanisha Pessoa was invited to Napolitano’s bakery for a special treat.
Napolitano presented Pessoa with a check for $3,000, helping the team surpass the $5,000 goal on their GoFundMe page.
The cheerleading coach says your support means the world to her and her team.
“They will focus on the positive: the people who care about them, they do well, they stay focused, and hopefully they will fulfill our route in the way that we need to and bring something home,” Pessoa said.
When the cheerleaders return, the bakery owners say they will send them a cake to celebrate.
The team leaves for Orlando on February 8.
Pessoa says the extra money raised will be used for her youth summer cheer camp program to prepare for the next cheerleading class.
