The Lethbridge cheerleading team heads to the world | CTV News

The Lethbridge cheerleading team is on top of the world — or at least they’re looking to be.

& # xD;

Everest’s Peak Elite Cheerleading Team is headed to the World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla., from Apr.19 to 21 and can’t wait to show the world what they’ve got.

& # xD;

“They started when they were eight to 10 years old. It’s been a slow and steady progression to get them to Level 6 and I couldn’t be more proud,” said Peak Elite owner and head trainer, Samantha Paradee.

& # xD;

They punched their ticket to the world at the Cold Snap Championship in Edmonton on Jan.22, earning Alberta’s final bid there.

& # xD;

An offer is an invitation to compete and must be earned through competing in an event that offers it, with nine offers being given out in Cold Snap and more will be given out in the competition over the next few months.

Puncak Elite, formerly known as Perfect Storm, is no stranger to winning.

& # xD;

They have taken many championships but moving to the international stage pushes them to a new level of competition.

& # xD;

“This is the first time Peak Elite has sent someone out into the world,” Paradee said.

& # xD;

“It’s the first gym in Lethbridge to ever send a team to worlds, so yeah, we’re the first. That’s a big deal.”

& # xD;

Cheerleading isn’t just a sport reserved for high school, either.

& # xD;

Peak Elite has several teams besides Everest, and athletes range in age from just four years to 55.

Team Everest consists of 15 members aged 14 to 21.
